i get theese strange thoughts in my head. like when im driving what would it be like if i drove into the on coming car. im not suicidal right now and its not a thought i would follow through with.but just the thoughts like that freak me out likewhere do they come from. then i get a thought to self harm in many ways. i cant let the thought go till i do it.

I can relate to these scary thoughts like what you described in the car. Even though I would never follow through with them, I can't help but to wonder where they come from either. I am not a mean spirited person and the thought of me thinking about those things is disconcerting.

Intrusive thoughts can most certainly fit the criteria for ocd. Its my main symptom. They are terrible things, but I would never act on them. That's what my pdoc says is important to differentiate from other problems, that you would never act on them.

Yeah, if you are having extreme thoughts that's how OCD starts, with an obsessive thought. Compulsion comes later but it's great you've recognized it early. A good idea would be to see a therapist and try to face and deal with these extreme thoughts which might stall or stop any compulsions cropping up - wish I had done it sooner.

Good luck - I know it's hard ((hugs))
