Hi,
My name is Morgan and I'm 16 years old and I guess you could say yes I live in a pretty stable environment. Yeah I have a mom and a dad that are around and siblings but I feel pressure to be there perfect daughter and their perfect sister. I feel the need to do everything perfectly all the time no matter how big or how small. But nothing I do ever seams good enough. For me all of this is hard for me to deal with and I would like to talk to someone. I don't really care if it's a guy or a girl just someone who is going to be non judgmental and not expect me to be perfect all the time. On top of the things with my family I struggle with my self-esteem and my body image. I have a hard time feeling confidence in myself. I was wondering how I should tell my parents because I don't really know how and I don't really want to. Would talking to a therapist even be a good idea for me or would it be totally wasting their time and my time??
Thanks for helping,
Morgan

Morgan, hello and welcome!

Jmo, but I'd approach your parents about therapy. You can always say that you have things on your mind and you would like to talk with a therapist...get an objective view of things and guide you.
You can do it in a calm but firm way.
If you had a lingering cold or something, I don't think they would object to you seeing someone. In many ways going to therapy is like that...some of your problems are not going away and you'd like some help with them.

Confusion is an almost natural state for teenagers. But...you are showing courage and being honest about wanting to take care of yourself. That should be your priority, Morgan.
Doubling your self esteem is well worth the time and money.

Jmo,
Catherine

Morgan, It's a lot easier to address self-esteem issues and body image problems, etc. before those lead to more symptoms and bigger problems. Wouldn't your parents rather that you get it worked out now, than later on when it could take a lot longer and cost a lot more and cause you and them a lot more pain? It's probably hard to admit to having any emotional issues when you feel under pressure to be perfect. But the best way to deal with something you are nervous or afraid of is to face it. You could talk to a school counselor and see if you can get some support for talking to your parents or some help with your concerns there, if you feel like you need some back-up. And school counselors sometimes can help with self-esteem and body image problems too. It's a place to start, anyway.

TC,
Rap

Hi Morgan! Love the name! I am writing a book and Morgan is the lead Charachter in my fantasy novel!

I absolutely applaud you for taking steps to seek out a way to figure this stuff out. I think starting with your school counselor is a great idea. If you dont have one, you could definetly start a conversation with your parents saying that you want to work out some stuff. I wish you the best of luck!
Thanks for this!
