This Memorial Day in the U.S., I just wanted to give my thanks and appreciation for those who've given their lives and died in service of protecting our freedom and our country.

Thank you -- you are remembered.

I would also like to take this opportunity to honor those who served and lost their lives.

My uncle was a marine killed in action in the battle of Anewetok in the South Pacific during WWII .

For my dad, who also served in the South Pacific with his brother.

Stephen...My First Love

One of my younger brothers...

The wounded who came to us, spent their last moments alive with us, held our hands, and if they could speak, whispered to us, "Tell 'em I love them."

I salute, with honor and gratitude, those who served our country.

In memory of those who served & who came home heroes but whose lives were so hurt by the trauma of the war they went through, that their hero status & respect they deserved was lost when they found it impossible to find their way back to living a normal life again.

Also remembering those who have served & have lost their lives while protecting the freedoms that have long been fought for in this country & remembering those who are still serving & those who are still fighting for those freedoms so we won't loose them in the future.

I have two 3rd cousin relatives, brothers (which is about all the family I have left ) who are serving in the military & have been in Iraq & one who is there now. One is the Army & one in the Marines. The pride & respect I feel for the men & women who are serving in our military,
determined to protect us from those who are wanting to destroy the freedom which our ancestors have fought so hard to maintain is impossible to find the words to express.

May they all receive the honor & respect that they deserve for their courage & bravery...those of the past & those of the present.

Thanks to all who have put their lives on the line & those who have lost their lives for our freedom....it has come at a high cost from the very beginning when our country was first being formed....let us never forget that freedom does not come without such a cost & to continually be thankful for those who are able & willing to put their lives on the line to insure our freedom.

America the Beautiful may we continue to enjoy that beauty surrounded by the freedom we have fought so hard to maintain.

Debbie

Can I say a prayer, please?

To the men and women of Defense, who have fallen in the line of duty, now and through the ages, rest in peace knowing that they made a difference, that the devastating and untimely end to their lives was not in vain, that their contribution was selfless, unconditional and ultimately puts humanity in perspective, in service of their country and its people. I salute you......

May the people who acted in defense of our freedom and returned home, find a measure of peace in the banalities and responsibilities of civilian life.......that their transition from war to peace be still and lack chaos, of which they have experienced much of...

may the people who are still fighting and others who are assisting in hostile territory, be safe and have courage to fulfill their overwhelming duty to their country, and know that they are loved and supported by the people, who's freedom, liberty and domestic safety, rests on their success.

Amen.

I know it is Memorial Day in America, but can I make a shout out to our ANZACs and serving men and women of the Australian Dept of Defense......We are with you.......

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
