I was washing dishes and had a large serrated bread knife in my hand. Well, to make a long story short, I sliced the little finger on my left hand so deeply that it went about half-way through and my finger instantly went numb. I knew right then that I had done some serious damage that might require either special surgery or an amputation. I was very panicky and my dear friend/room mate immediately rushed me to the emergency room where they hooked me up to an IV (with antibiotics and pain killers), irrigated the wound and told me that I had severed my tendon (the nerve was ok thank God). My finger is in a splint now and I no longer have the use of my little finger so I have to see a hand surgeon this Wednesday to have microsurgery (I think they call it). The worst part of the whole thing was when the doctor gave me the anesthetic injections...it hurt so bad I screamed like a little girl and I will have to go through it all over again in a few days but thank the good Lord I did'nt damage the nerves or even severe the entire finger!.

If you believe in the power of prayer (I know I do) please say a prayer for me and thank's for listening. This is scary and new to me.

- Warm regards

You're in my thoughts, GG. When I was younger I put my hand through a window. Luckily, I didn't sever my tendon, but it was close. I know EXACTLY what you mean about that "numbing" shot. It hurts! It hurts so much that I got a single stitch in my thumb without the stupid shot because the shot was worse.

You're in my thoughts. Take care!

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{GreyGoose}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I had to get stitches in a finger once and when they gave me the numbing shot in it, the doctor turned around and told me "Breathe." LOL He must have thought I was nuts! I told him that I am (breathing). OMG that darn shot hurt!! I almost chopped my finger off In a different incident I cut a different finger perfectly in the middle joint. It barely bled, but the knife went in at just the right spot to go all the way between the bones--which I could clearly see! I almost chopped my finger off I almost chopped my finger off I went to my primary doc who was very impressed to see such an injury and well I cleaned it. I had a splint for a few weeks. I'll give you my hugs and prayers that everything works out easy for you!

Oh Goose,

Consider the prayer said. I am so sorry for your accident and the pain involved. I've had to have the numbing a lot and I'm so sorry you have to go through that on top of everything else.

Try to hang in there and lean on us, your friend and the prayers for support.

Many hugs,

January

(((((((((((((((((((GG))))))))))))))))))))))) I'm so sorry. I hope your finger will get better.

Years ago, I was cutting a big kaiser bun, and accidently cut the tip of my index finger, and a chunk was hanging on to the rest of my finger by a bit of skin. At first it didn't hurt, but all that blood... Even now, I get a tingling sensation there.

One suggestion before getting that shot - take some painkillers like tylenol or something. That way, the shot won't hurt as much - I hope.

Am thinking of you. Take care.

I once did a similar thing with similar results, and my tip of my finger went numb from it, and even now, a year on, there is still not as much sensation in the tip of that finger as there is on the same finger on my other hand.

I hope your finger heals quickly GreyGoose, and that you regain all movement of that finger!
