This is so very cool Pfizer Sponsors Forums
But is that true, you will have such a huge home (mansion) and yacht??
Need a chauffer? I've been driving so much up and down the east coast, I jokingly tell the family, maybe I should be a limo driver, ha!ha!

Congrats!!!

Here's the text of the press release in case you can't open the PDF:

Pfizer Announces Premier Sponsorship of Dr. Grohol’s Forums
Agreement will result in better penetration for Pfizer Inc’s key markets

NEW YORK, April 1 2005 – Pfizer Inc, in partnership with John M. Grohol, Psy.D., a pioneer in publishing mental health information online and patient advocate, have announced today a joint agreement for the exclusive sponsorship of Dr. John Grohol’s Forums @ Psych Central. Dr. Grohol’s forums were chosen for their growing membership base, close community membership, and the members’ strong advocacy of prescription medications, such as Pfizer’s Zoloft® brand of antidepressant medication.

Dr. John Grohol, owner and administrator for the forums since their launch in May 2001 said, “This is a great day not only for the members of the forums, but for prescription medications in general. I think they’ve gotten a bad rap in the field and are simply not prescribed often enough.” Pfizer hopes that through this sponsorship, more members will realize the benefits of Zoloft®.
“Pfizer calls them ‘happy pills,’ but I think Zoloft® is far better than crack cocaine,” noted Dr. Grohol.

Pfizer’s attention to patient care is unmatched within the industry. Through educational, non-profit grants, Pfizer is known for its altruism and focus on ensuring that Americans always have ample access and supply to overpriced antidepressant and other invaluable kinds of medications that go to the heart of the human condition. In addition to its widely-prescribed anti-anxiety medication, Xanax®, Pfizer is probably also well known for its male enhancement pill, Viagra®. “It’s a hard area to experience significant penetration of,” noted Pfizer spokesperson Jill dePenisse. “Patients who need a little help in their lives – whether it’s for debilitating mental illness such as depression or anxiety, or just needing a little help getting it up – well, Pfizer wants to be known for providing that needed support. What better way than to sponsor this community?”

Dr. Grohol noted, with a tear in his eye, “We will finally be able to afford the 8,500 sq. ft. home, 75 ft. yacht, and 72” widescreen HDTV we’ve been scrimping and saving for.” The partnership began immediately, and will span 86,400 seconds.

Pfizer Inc discovers, develops, manufactures and markets leading prescription medicines for humans and animals, as well as many of the world’s best-known consumer products.

LOL @ Emmy. I can imagine Emmy, zh, and who else thought that guy had nice legs?? All mourning the loss.

I was attempted to write a serious pm when I looked up and saw the happy pill thing up there and I just cracked up and almost spit on my computer screen. lol

doc, you animal you! Even after re reading the press release many times, I still go back and forth trying to be sure I either "got" the best April fools' joke I ever heard of, or "received" some of the most disappointing news I could imagine. Ach, sooo well done.

And I thought "I" had an attitude about drug companies!!

Thanks, that was the funniest thing I've seen in a while. Consider more comic appearances, this was great.

Who knew you had such a fabulous sense of humor? I'm impressed. I must confess that upon seeing the name Pfizer at the top of my computer screen I was a little turned off, but after sqrl prompted me to actually read this, to think I almost missed out on the opportunity to laugh my *** off is a crime. OH. MY. GAWD. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is REALLY freaky about this for me, is that suddenly, after I had seen the banner and skimmed this thread, I tried to post, intending to go ahead and go against the then-grain and say that I thought it was... reprehensible (more tactfully put). BUT! I got an error after trying to submit, and for about two hours I couldn't get onto the site at all.

So! I was prevented from revealing my lack of awareness of the date; and that I had only skimmed the thread (or looking like I had indeed read the thread, but still hadn't been able to grasp that it was a joke). TOO BIZARRE!

(I had first thought the banner had to be due to spyware on my PC, btw.)

DocJohn, you is a real human bean! That was fabulous, and especially cool because you had the "courage of your convictions..." Knew that for some it would take awhile to get or get into, but also knew that it caused enough fun to be had and made enough of a statement about your wonderful humor, that it was worth it! I'm behind that, we shouldn't dilute ALL opportunities for some spirited interludes! Pfizer Sponsors Forums

Thanks folks!!

I had the idea on the way into work today, so I figured, let's have some fun with the drug companies!!

(Yes, sorry about the server outage today, had a little issue that has since been resolved.)

Hope everyone had a great April Fool's Day!
