Omg!
I am sooooo sorry for his situation. I had the same and I know of his pain.

I was admitted into emergency. The pain was so intense that I wouldn't settle for anything less.....Although, I was so doped up at the time of admittance (valium...had nothing else to relieve pain....so I sent self into a comatose state)..Sister took me in to be admitted, (it was an inconvenience to hubs that I was suffering...the *****).

Have you tried emergency, Bebop?
I simply cannot imagine them turning your husband away while being in such pain.....

My best to you both...
I hope this helps some?

Ditto on going through the ER...
I had no choice because of the intense pain, despite having a fairly decent pain med. We were trying to wait until Monday because of insurance requirements...go figure on that one.
Sunday was the last day I could tolerate the pain.

Inpatient would allow for immediate testing and any consultation from another physician.

Best wishes,

Catherine

I went to the doctor and he took xrays on my stomach....and found gallstones...funny he told me that was the cause of my pain and I laughed cause I never told him I have pain (and I don't) he advised me to see a surgeon if I do get pain. My sister on the other hand just had surgery last Dec. It was a schedule proceedure. Apparently your doctor doesn't realize the amount of pain you husband is experiencing. My suggestion as the others before me....TAKE YOUR HUSBAND IMMEDIATELY TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM!!

Yes be, you go to the ER, and if they refuse you treatment you find the patient advocate for the hospital and you make a scene!(I know you can do it! lol)

That is terribly painful, and the icky thing is I am going to have to have mine checked because lately im getting nauseas and having pains in that area... eeeeeek

I agree with everyone else, go to the ER. If a stone blocks the bile duct and it isn't taken care of it could cause several other conditions, like jaundice and/or pancreatitis, I would go as soon as possible.
Thanks for this!

Hi ,
I am sorry for your situation. You need to advocate based on the pain levels. If it is incredibly painful I would find myself at the closest and best hospital demanding care. I would also be going back to my primary doc and asking if it sounds right and if he has any influence on pushing it earlier. Good luck and i wish you all the best with a speedy recovery for your husband

hope as to peeps health when i.e. ,,,gallstones [ ? ] ,,,, constant or sporadic vomiting , lasting for a period of time that indicates not a mear bug [ ? ] ,,,,, pain in extreme or discomfort [ ? ]

ATTENTION !!! To these symptooms are imperative !
hopefully the appropriate Attention !!! was sufficent ,, although in a period of 24 hrs. ,, ?????
Those that have replied to this thread are 100% correct ,, ER at local Hospital will surely give adequate Attention !!!
Glad all who responded here KNOW the ER is always open ...

Bebop,
His pain "coming and going" can be a sign that the stones are moving in the duct...add in the nausea and he may be presenting with a serious problem.

The following is copied from the National Digestive Diseases
NIDDK/National Institute of Health

What are the symptoms of gallstones?

As gallstones move into the bile ducts and create blockage, pressure increases in the gallbladder and one or more symptoms may occur. Symptoms of blocked bile ducts are often called a gallbladder “attack” because they occur suddenly. Gallbladder attacks often follow fatty meals, and they may occur during the night. A typical attack can cause
  • steady pain in the right upper abdomen that increases rapidly and lasts from 30 minutes to several hours
  • pain in the back between the shoulder blades
  • pain under the right shoulder
Notify your doctor if you think you have experienced a gallbladder attack. Although these attacks often pass as gallstones move, your gallbladder can become infected and rupture if a blockage remains.
People with any of the following symptoms should see a doctor immediately:
  • prolonged pain—more than 5 hours
  • nausea and vomiting
  • fever—even low-grade—or chills
  • yellowish color of the skin or whites of the eyes
  • clay-colored stools
Many people with gallstones have no symptoms; these gallstones are called “silent stones.” They do not interfere with gallbladder, liver, or pancreas function and do not need treatment.
......................................................................................................................

Best wishes to both of you...

Catherine
