I an usually invisible also but in honor of this post I am now visible.
I don't know why ....maybe it just "feels" safer to be invisible.

I don't even know HOW to be anon or invisible. I wanted to be yesterday because I didn't want anyone to think I was being antisocial if I didn't reply to a post right away. (I was gone to an appointment, but I have cable internet. It kills me to shut down the computer or log off if I don't have to).

because if i don't have time or the inclination to read or reply, i'm not hurting someone's feelings cause they can see that i'm here and i let them down...and because someone used to follow me around on another board and it made a wreck out of me........i felt stalked.

 Ok... I'll tell ya!  It's in your profile, the second choice down. Can't remember what it says, but it's in the area where you can change your password and email address... if it will let you! It's not letting me change my email address right now.DAMN!! I hate telling secrets!! LOL

Right, some people don't like to be tracked. Another forum I visit has the option of letting your name be seen, but it doesn't show where you are on the site. It also doesn't let you see where other people are.
I don't mind if people know where I am (as long as they aren't using it to track me down in the forums to attack me repeatedly, LOL) but some people just like to cruise around at their leisure and not worry that people are thinking "OK, she's here, why won't she say anything. I got a message on that other site from someone after a falling out and she was all "STOP LURKING AND POST OR LEAVE." I'll do no such thing, thank you very much. Sometimes I just want to read and have nothing to say. Harumph

No, I'm not going to go anon if I'm HERE.
 I just wanted to use it when I really wasn't here but didn't have the guts to hit the log out button. You know, on cable connection it takes soooo long to log back in to the site.

i genuinely have a thing about staying under the radar....it's been my M.O. for years....nothing sneaky...just out of sight, out of mind type thing...used to have to live a highly public life..learned that i didn't like "public" all that much...

LOL, I'm enough of a recluse just because I work at home and some days I don't even manage to run outside to grab the mail if I can see it's all junk.

Yep SM, don't have a brain aneurysm trying to figure it out.
 Without the hider outers, some of us might not seem as social butterfly-y. (and I need to fake it till I make it, so the more of you that hide out the better.  Grrrr, why isn't my grin smiley working?
