first want to thank sky for reposting all those posts in "healthy eating".......i'm hoping that this time we can keep up the dialogue and see great results! i got the official ok from doc john to do this so lets start losing!!!! i think a good starting point would be to get to know each other a little and set some goals....a short term goal and a long term goal.....and feel free to share as much or as little about yourselves as you are comfortable with......i'm going to go to the health forum now and tell all you folks a little about myself and hope you will all do the same....our first "weigh in" will be tomorrow so get those scales out!.most of all lets have fun ! we can do this!..julia

THanks so much butterflyLady! I would have loved to volunteer to do this but I was worried I'd let everyone down! ANY who... I used to be a MUCH smaller size 4 and after 4 years of college I'm up to a size 14 and 170. My long term goal is to lose 40 pounds by september, while my short term goals are to loose 2 pounds a week, eat more fruits and veggies, and take 45 minute walks every day!

So are we starting here or in health? I looked in health and didn't see anything.

Ok....here goes....

I've struggled with weight my whole life, but have always carried it fairly well. Last year I lost weight RAPIDLY and got very sick. My heart was damaged, all kinds of tests, etc. So my goal now is to do it right. I've been eating smaller portions more times a day, doing most of my bigger meals before 5pm. My goals is to loose about 50 pounds and tone up. I don't want to loose my curves though =). I strongly recommend that we weigh in tomorrow, and DON'T weigh ourselves again for a month. When you excersise you build muscle which weighs more then fat, so the scale can be very discouraging. The best way to track your success is by measuring inches or just watching how your clothes fit. When I get serious about getting healthy (about 3 times a year, for about 3 weeks lol) I take all my measurments. Biceps, bust, underbust (bra size ladies, it will diminish!), stomoach, waist, hips, butt, and thighs. I was most successful and loosing inches when I measured every week and then added the total amount lost and compared to the previous week. You can't blame inches on water weight, or stepping on the scale with clothes or heavy shoes, etc. Do your inches and when you loose an inch or more, you know it's real. The important thing is to try and wrap the measuring tape in the same place every week. If you're comfortable having someone help, that helps too. Do it agains bare skin, and stand up. So, I think we should all weigh in tomorrow AND take our measurments, then do measurments every Sunday, and do another wiegh in in one month.

Got off the topic of personal stuff! LOL. I'm suffering weight gain from the Depo shot and getting a beer gut. I'm off the shot and I've switched to Lite beer. Ok...that's it in a nutshell about me!

Remember, only post your weight or inches if you're comfortable. We starting a thread in health about this?

I AM SOOO EXCITED YOU GUYS!!!

Thank you so much Katt for your inspirtation!!!!

Rayna

I love this idea, a support group for losing weight. I need to shed 30 or so lbs so that I can get back into my clothes. I can't even get my jeans over my hips. I've been sporting the good ole sweat pants lately. Soooo I really do need and want to lose weight. I feel rather nervous posting this, because becoming a part of a weight loss support group, means I will have to actively participate, which is out of my comfort zone. But I am willing to try ..

I really don't know what to say about myself.. There really isn't a lot to say other than I need to lose weight..Oh and I like the idea of going by how our clothes fit, rather than going by weight. Umm, I think I'd pass out if I saw my weight on a scale. OUR NEW WEIGHT LOSS /HEALTHY EATING SUPPORT GROUP STARTS TOMORROW!!!
