I'm taking meds and seeing a therapist three times a week and still having intermittent feelings of suicide.
Am thinking to admit myself to a psychiatric facility.
Can someone recommend a good one?
I'm currently in graduate school; domestic violence survivor; mother of numerous teen kids;

your therapist or pdoc would have to make those arrangements I believe. I would call either of them to discuss it with them.

My psychiatrist is ok with it, but I want to know which facility people have had bad/good experiences with. My doc said she'll see if Four Winds in Katonah NY has a bed.
There are numerous facilities and I'd like to make the most out of my time there, so I want one that's really good in terms of the therapy etc.

My doc is ready to call it in when I have my next suicide attack.
She said she could check with Four Winds in Katonah NY to see if they have a bed.
However, she has no problem with any other place I would choose.
I would like to hear from others who have been to facilities.
I would like to make the most out of my time in a short-term, acute-care facility, just for a few days. And therefore want to know which place is really good in terms of treatment, therapy, etc.

My friend who has major depression has been to Four Winds before. (Though it was a different one, as Katonah is way south of here) from what I've heard at least the one in our area is really good.... so I think it's safe to assume the one in Katonah is also pretty good.

Anyone know of other facilities and what it's like there?
Katonah is quite a drive for me, I live closer to the city (NYC) but willing to drive wherever there's a good facility.
I hope I don't meet any of my own clients as I'm in the mental health field myself.

Hi chairs , I have heard good things about ny hospital in westchester (bloomingdale Rd. --not the Payne Whitney in Manhattan.) I almost went there this past fall before my meds kicked in. I think they might even have a program for women. Also my son was in Columbia presby uptown and received excellent care. Best of luck to you.

ny presbyterian (columbia) is the best in the city. I've been there several times. I highly recommend it if you want the best care.
