Ok. My husband is out of he hospital. His general doctor's name is Dr. F. his Gatro doc's name is Dr. A. and the nurse that we mostly dealt with at the time was Nurse M. Well they got their wires all crossed with my husband's illness. Dr. A. did a ct scan of hy husband's internal organs in his abdomin. And also alot of blood work. Well he cam ein on Friday and told us that my husband had an infection in his intsetines and that what was causeing all of his symptoms. So on Saturday when he was released we thought he would be sent home with anti biotics and his usual Crohn's meds. Well he was'nt sent home with anything. The discharge sheet had no diagnoses on it and listed his pain rating as 2 when he told the nurse it was 7 out of 10. An hour before he was dicharged he had told nurse M. he was'nt feeling good and had been having dirriah and vomiting since Friday afternoon. I did'nt understand why his gp had let him out w/o anti biotics. So I called him. He told me the nurse had told him that my husband had said he was feeling much better and ready to go home and that Dr. A. said he had no infection and his blood work was fine. And that he was'nt going to cal him in any anti biotics. And well he go smart with me and told me a bunch of crap then told me to bring my husband in his office to be checked out. I told him, that we would come to his office but only to pick up our med records for our new doctor. And he hung up on me. The nurse said she did'nt even talk to him. And Dr. Ahmed refuses to speak with us. I am very angry aobut this. If my husband does have an intestinal infection, it could kill him. But Dr. F.(gp) refuses do anything. Right befor we left he had the nerve to smack my husband right on the abdomin twice!!! I brought this up to him and he said well I don't belive your usband has Crohn's so it would'nt have hurt him. WTF?!?! I then told him he had been diagnosed by 2 Gastros (one of them is ranked no.2 in Kentucky as te best) and 3 gp's. He ent on to say that my husband had been misdiagnosed and HE had he right diagnoses. I asked him what it was and he just hung up. I am livid at the uncaring and unprofessionalism of this doctor. I want to report him but I don't know how. But if I ever find out...

Thunderbear, I'm so sorry this happened. Doctors can be such -- well, it's unprintable. I don't know how you go about filing a complaint or whatever, but with all you have to deal with, maybe you should just focus on moving forward with your husband's treatment -- but that's for you to decide. All I can do is hope that things get better for you in the coming week.

They should have a DR.'s board just like they do a nursing board. I would report him. What an a-hole.

to report a doctors conduct you can report him to the state board of medicine (state medical board) and or to the agency of health care administration for your state...i have included a link..hope this helps..good luck...............
(http://www.mdnationwide.org/choose_a_doctor.htm) using the same link you can also do a background check on your existing physician ![]() |

Thunderbear,
Here's a link for filing a grievance against the doctor: http://kbml.ky.gov/grievances.htm Is there somewhere else you can take your husband? With the vomiting, etc. he needs attention. Crohn's is nothing to screw with. I'm so sorry this is happening. ![]()

I myself would get my husband in to see some one ( new dcotor ) right away. You can go after your old doctor later. Your husband sound pretty sick - he comes first, after you. You have to take care of you to help him. Good luck - keep us posted. Hugs to all.

I agree you should report the doctor later and just focus on getting your husband the right medical attention. I don't think you you've been treated fairly and it's very rude for a doctor to hang up on you. I hope your husband gets the help he needs and feel bad that you had to deal with doctore like this.

You may have to call someone to come to him. 911 or what ever. You are there with him. You have to make the choice. I know I have friend with some problems where he just passes out and hits the ground. He told me not to call anyone untill I see blood coming from his mouth. He is in so much pain but he gets through it after 15 to 20 minutes. He has been to the hospital for his condition in the past so I have to do as he wants me to unless he stops breathing. I so wish you luck, I know that this sucks. Hugs for you and your husband. ![]() ![]() |

I can sympathize with you on this. My grandfather was in the hospital recently (got out several weeks ago) but while he was there, it was hectic dealing with the doctors. But I found that the problem usually wasn't with the doctors but rather with the nurses, as they would tell the doctor something that's complete nonsense and the doctor has faith in their nurses. So it's understandable when they continue on this incorrect path. When the patient and the family inform the doctor of the opposite occurring, then the doctor is left to decide who to believe, the nurses who he/she has worked with for a while or the random patient and their family.
However, a doctor hitting a patient is inexcusable. Writing no diagnosis and discharging the patient when the patient clearly is ill (i.e. vomiting) is also inexcusable. Some doctors are stuck-up because they have a M.D. and the patient and their family don't. You could either simply go on with life and try to get a different doctor or you could get a different doctor and file a complaint. If you bring him back to the same hospital, then they're probably going to see he was in very recently. You may be able to get a different doctor and get it all sorted out. That happened to my family a few times, one doctor I thought was good but later on realized he wasn't and we had to rush my father (mind you we had to call the fire department because he's well over 320 lbs, wasn't sure where he was so you had to somehow try to restrain a man over 6ft3, over 320 lbs who is incredibly strong. After we got the fire department and paramedics over, we brought him back to the same hospital and demanded (I won't try to write the entire dialogue as it was fairly long and didn't have the nicest of words). Anyways, we got a different doctor and lo' and behold, that doctor was pretty fast on the diagnosis, gave him a few pills and said in about a week he should be fine. In 4 days he was completely better. |

I am a Critical Care Nurse....and a good one!!! ![]() If your husbands abdomen is distended and he is experiencing nausea and/or vomiting with a history of Crohn's, he needs to be admitted to the ER for an eval now....sooner than ASAP. It could be that his Crohns is just extremely exacerbated right now, but these are also signs/symptoms of his bowels shutting down and if he has any fever, this could also be a sign of sepsis or bowel infarction. The vomiting can lead to severe dehydration and throw off his chemicals like sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium which are all very dangerous things to mess with and could cause heart arrythmias which could be fatal. If he is having chest pain with this, that is not good either. More than likely this chest pain is referred pain from his distended abdomen, but it needs to be checked out now. My Nursing advice to you is get him to the ER. Do not let him eat or drink anything as this could cause him further discomfort and problems. He needs an eval by GOOD Doctors and Nurses and needs bowel rest and medication. So what if he doesn't want to go. Call 911 and tell them he's having chest pain with nausea and vomiting and they will come and take him to the ER. Just because he's making sense doesn't mean he's thinking clearly. Take charge. I'm sorry if this scares you but if this gets you to get him to the hospital then I'm kind of not. I have seen people who ignore symptoms like these die. I know that's harsh to say...but he needs to be in the hospital. This sort of crappy medical care just pisses me off. Make sure, once he's getting treatment that you write down each call you made, what was discussed, what time you called and what the issues and outcomes were. This will be important when/if you file a complaint. I'm really sorry for him and you for having to go through this. He should have never been discharged in that condition....period. Please keep us posted. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() What you are describing....the intestines funneling, is called Intussusception. It is when one part of the intestines slides inside of another part, like closing a telescope. This is dangerous and leads to death if not treated. SERIOUSLY!! Get him to the ER NOW!! This leads into a bowel obstruction and can cut off oxygen to the bowels which then paralyzes them and leads to the bowels breaking down and basically decaying inside the body. He needs to have this reduced. Nothing to eat or drink....Emergency Room NOW...Do not pass go...do not collect two hundred dollars. PLEASE GO NOW!! This is life threatening!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intussu...ical_disorder)

Well I just got off of the phone with his gastro's nurse. She read the med chart from his hospital stay. The CT scan reavealed that he was having a Crohn's flare and had an intestinal infection. The gastro ordered the family doc, Dr. F. to give my husband IV anti biotics for the infection and steriods for his flare along with pain medication and potassiam cloride(?) for dehydration. And to send him home with a pred pac, steriods and pain medication Well the fam doc gave him the pain meds and fluids in the hospital but not the anti biotic and steriod. And he sent him home with nothing. So after I hung up with the gastro I called Dr. F. and told him what the nurse told me. He told me that Dr.A., who is a specailist in gastrointestional dieseses, was wrong about his dx of Crohn's and he did not have an infection. I cannot belive that he is still maintaining that!! Neither can the gastro. Dr. A. is furious that Dr. F. did'nt do anything to fight this infection and is still refusing to do so. So Dr. A. wants to see my husband this week and get another CT to look at his whole large intestines and treat the funnel problem. He seems to think for now my husband will be fine as far as that goes and he is calling in anti biotics, a pred pac and pain medication for him. He is going to file a complaint to the board about Dr.F. for not following through with treatment on my husband's infection and flare up. I have already sent for the papers to file a grievance on this doctor. I have all the records from the hospital, including the treatment plan from the gastro doc and the medications ordered and given. ANd the one's that were not given but was suppossed to be. I just cannot belive some doctors!!! Don't they know that short cutting like that can cost someone their life? Ridiculous

THUNDER.....
Ask your husband if he wants to DIE? He is a danger to himself right now because he is not seeking treatment for an emergency medical issue which ultimately leads to a painful and miserable death. You can file a grievance later!! Right now, your husband is in dire need of emergency care. The electric company should work with you. If they don't, there are programs that can help you get it back on. Would you rather live without electricity or without your husband? Those Dr's are quacks and you need to take him to the Emergency Room NOW!! I'm not just saying this for fun. Think of how you will feel if he gets worse and something really bad happens and you didn't respond to him. I have seen this before. I know a few cases where people ignored this type of issue and let it go because they didn't want to get admitted or they didn't have insurance. They ended up turning a 2-3 night stay in the hospital into a 3-6 month stay in the hospital and a couple died while the other had to have 90% of their intestines removed, eat from a tube the rest of their lives and crap out a bag that came out of their abdomen. Your husband is scared and most likely in denial. Maybe you are too? You need to take control of this situation and get him the help if he won't do it for himself. The reason his distention got better is because his bowels have shut down and are no longer making all the fluids and enzymes they are supposed to...which is what was leading to the distention. Once the bowels shut down and they slide into themselves like that, the bowel begins to strangulate on itself and it begins to die and become necrotic. Ultimately his bowel will split open causing his bowel contents and all the bacteria inside his bowels to pour into his abdominal cavity. He will become even more painful, and will become septic. Once he becomes septic he will go into shock. Once he goes into shock he will die. Every minute he spends away from medical treatment is one step closer to death. So yeah, ask him if he wants to die and what he'd like on his head stone. PLEASE GET HIM HELP!!!!
