I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live. ~George Bernard Shaw

We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future. ~Franklin Delano Roosevelt

A man is called selfish not for pursuing his own good, but for neglecting his neighbor's. ~Richard Whately

What is community spirit?

community spirit
phrase
Definition
a good feeling in a group of people who live in the same area

Example
The people in our community have a great community spirit. We always help each other and keep our community beautiful.

at PC we are a diverse collection of individuals, with individual needs, whom gather together to create and enjoy a spirit of unity, togetherness, helpfulness and friendliness... we are concerned with matters affecting us all, in each of our lives we cross paths, influence one another, make reality what it is... at PC we are not a collection of 86,000+ members on individual courses, incognizant of our neighbors... we care, we have consideration of and hope to build a place of safety for each and all...

communities often organize for the benefit of the group and the group consists of the individuals within.. what affects the one affects the whole..

PC is more than the individual, it is all of us and all of us matter...

a community is capable of combining resources, sharing energy, overcoming barriers.. community can activate, organize and shape.. community is a collective of common goals... our common goal at PC is to aspire towards and accomplish goals of greater health, for one, for all...

communities are often created around what is known as a 'charter'
char·ter (chärSpirit of CommunitytSpirit of Communityr)n.1. A document issued by a sovereign, legislature, or other authority, creating a public or private corporation, such as a city, college, or bank, and defining its privileges and purposes.
2. A written grant from the sovereign power of a country conferring certain rights and privileges on a person, a corporation, or the people: A royal charter exempted the Massachusetts colony from direct interference by the Crown.
3. A document outlining the principles, functions, and organization of a corporate body; a constitution: the city charter.
4. An authorization from a central organization to establish a local branch or chapter.
5. Special privilege or immunity.
6. a. A contract for the commercial leasing of a vessel or space on a vessel.
b. The hiring or leasing of an aircraft, vessel, or other vehicle, especially for the exclusive, temporary use of a group of travelers.

7. A written instrument given as evidence of agreement, transfer, or contract; a deed.

adj. Of, relating to, or being an arrangement in which transportation is leased by a group of travelers for their exclusive, temporary use.

tr.v. char·tered, char·ter·ing, char·ters 1. To grant a charter to; establish by charter.
2. To hire or lease by charter: charter an oil tanker.
3. To hire (a bus or airplane, for example) for the exclusive, temporary use of a group of travelers.

the PC website is similar to a vessel and we each are the travellers which travel its path

PC can benefit from the use of its own charter in several different ways... our guidelines can serve as the groundwork for such an agreement and as members we can swear to uphold the guidelines that have been provided to offer us as safe a place as possible to share our stories and struggles..

as a community we can pledge to these guidelines and in so doing become a stronger community, dedicated to the founding principles of what PC is all about.. ordinary people helping ordinary people...

my sincere appreciation goes out to all PC members who continue to uphold and strengthen our PC community

may all be well, ty for reading

WOW, well said "nowhere to run" at least here you can run in place or even stop running a sit for a spell to get more energy to run through this rat race of life and it is incrediably great to have PC to run to when things get narly out in the world, a world that some of the times don't understand. That it is a place of safty so just to back you up on this is HUGE because lots of us have alot in common.

When I don't have something NICE to say to my system or to anyone else, I don't say it at all.... Your Friends ThaCrew

ty paddy it was your post and observing the hard work so many put into our community that inspired me to write this.. i think i could have worded my thoughts better (my near merciless inner critic ) but i am thankful again that there are those who care as much as you do and i am proud to know you as a friend also

hmm ((KM)))) ... wheels on the bus is so 'spinny' ... what if we think of a song with some transcendent theme to it?

((NWTR))

You really think you can stop the world from spinning? You have lofty goals.

Uh oh, I feel a song coming on.....

"The member on the bus says 'Move on Up, Move on Up, Move on Up.'"
Thanks for this!

I want to thank everyone for their input but at this time I'm going to close this thread. Since this is a continuation of a previously locked thread, I believe we have said all there is to say about this subject.

Be well everyone!
