We WON for the horses!!!

I wanted to let you all know that the Rahall-Whitfield Interior Appropriations Amendment passed today with a landslide vote of 249-159 to restore the 34-year-old ban on the commercial sale and slaughter of wild free-roaming horses and burros that was lifted in the closing days of the last Congressional session.

Congratulations!

I guess, though, that means you're not buying me a burro for my birthday! Drat!

I'm sure glad that measure passed...what a relief. The all wild animals need protecting but especially the horses that are being caught in the wild. They can't protect themselves & need us to help the protection happen.

We have a mustang at our ranch that came from the wild.....my feelings are that if they can't be wild, they need good loving homes. I have a chiropractor for my horse that is very active with the Horse rescue (MASH) here in California & to my surprise, there are so many abused horses out there that they rescue....heard some of the stories behind the horses & was startled that human abuse is sometimes less than what has been done to horses.

I'm glad that much needed protection is being put in place for our huge wonderful friends. I know I couldn't live without them.

Say, can you get me a burro too when I finally get into my ranch property???? Actually think that adoption is available here in Calif too.

Congrats,
Debbie
