Fayerody, I read your post and that is great news. I was reading the local paper this morning and saw an article and thought of you. It was about the Wild Horse Extravaganza and Show. It said that 42 of the 44 Wild Horses were adopted out. Isnt that wonderful!!!!! It was a nonprofit event put on by the WIld Horse Foundation. They Gave the website www.wildhorsefoundation.com in case you want to check it out. You may already know about them but just thought I would pass it along.

I recall the first time I tried to pet a mule on the head... he looked at me like I wasn't so intelligent! I learned about the difference between mules, donkeys, and the like that day!

i grew up on a ranch and when we gathered cattle from the mountain ranges, i rode a mule named "Kit". she was a wonderful mount for driving cattle. if they didn't walk as fast as she wanted, or if they veered off, she gave them a light nip on their backsides. and she had a beautiful gliding trot that covered a lot of trails. there was a pecking order on the ranch for the cow horses and since i was the youngest and A GIRL, i got Kit. I also rode her down to "Mr. Thomas' house and he would lend me a huge sack of books. It was 4 miles and going back, i would take a book out and start it. Kit just walked on home.
