I'm sure I won't be thinking that after getting my chest squished to its limits on Friday. I got some good news

I asked what happens if they find anything wrong, would I be on my own financially? Depending on what it is, I can get Well Woman Medicaid. As far as the Pap smear, only if there are cervical problems will they cover it after the initial test. If it's a uterine problem, you're on your own.

Age 40, if there's any kind of history or you're having any symptoms, or if the doctor recommends it.

My doctor recommended it, and the woman today said due to my depression it would be a good idea to ease my mind. Otherwise I'd have had to pay for one.

I almost feel guilty taking all this help because I'm not as destitute as other people. But I'm under the income cutoff so, dangit, I'm not gonna feel guilty no matter what some other person I used to be involved with who shall remain nameless says about people who accept help.
I got some good news

I'm not looking forward to having to come up with the medication cost tomorrow, but I don't have a choice. This is something I need to do. I asked if they had any samples they could give me, but she didn't answer.

having had a radical mastectomy, i had a lot of mammograms. i don't recall ever feeling any significant pain. i know that they do hurt and i feel for everyone who has had a painful one. i think it's a miracle that we have something like that for detection. i'm really glad that you're getting it. do not feel guilty!!!! xoxox

Hmf - for some reason, my reply got deleted.

What I said was...

DO NOT feel guilty for accepting the service! You already paid for it as a taxpayer! That's why you pay taxes in the first place! You DESERVE the service!
