I talk to myself alot. All the time. It's like I get a thought in my head and I will mutter to myself about it. For example : My question- Is it cold out today? My thought-Yeah better bundle up. That seems kinda weird to me. I don't know mabye I am reading too much into it. But I have always, since I was a kid, have talked to myself. When I would read a book and one of the characters had a British accent I would whisper their lines in a brit accent. I always thought that was normal until my uncle started showing signs of schitzophrenia and before he got on his meds he would whisper to himself and mutter to himself all the time. Then this started worrying me. I don't know. Before that the talking to myself never bothered me but now that I have seen my uncle B do it it scares me
Am I losing my mind? Or is this something that people do? I can have whole conversations with myself. In my head,. I know there's no voices other than mine in there. No other personalities but me. But I will do this alot espcailly when I am bored or can't sleep.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I do this too. I have been doing it since I was a child. I do have DID, but this is slightly different than that. I can separate it from my DID symptoms.

I've heard of many others doing this too, and some do it more than others. I think it is kind of a coping skill that some folks use when they are alone, or feeling alone to help them cope and feel like they have someone to talk to.

Besides..you are your own captive audience. Always there when you need yourself.

The type of whispering that Schizophrenics display differs in that they typically are responding to what they hear as external stimuli...sometimes internal, but I've never heard a schizophrenic describe this as them talking to themselves. I've always heard them respond that they were communicating with some other entity.

No worries Kid....You're good!!

My ex did that, talked to himself...even conversed with himself. We picked on him for it...it was funny. But, as far as your situation, I think it is normal. A lot of people talk to themselves.

I used to be super paranoid about it, but I've heard of enough people doing it that I'm no longer afraid of it. Now I sometimes enjoy laughing at the random thoughts that make their way out of my mouth.

I talk to myself alot. Usually silent conversations and rarely loud ones too. And this really makes me feel good, soemthing not to worry about. This monologue proves very helpful to me. So I think it is okay to do so!!!
