Warmth, slowing down, fragrant colorful flowers, smiling people, cats sunning themselves, fireworks, iced coffee, rambling walks on the beach.

Maybe I'm weird, but I completely hate summer. It's so blasted hot and the sun is so bright. Yuck!! I seriously get depressed over summer - it's oppressive just to breathe. I must have backwards SAD or something. Is there such a thing?
So as not to drag down a happy thread, I will tell you something I like about summer - I have a pool and I love being in it, but of course only in the evening or at night. And having a pool also means that other people are generally asking to come over and I like having the company. |

I love the smell. The sun on my face and making my whole body warm by the beautiful sun. I love the beach (not the ocean water-big phobia) But I love sand between my toes. I love summer nights sitting on the deck and watching the sky. I love how the world looks so full of life.

I like all the flowers that are out in summer... and all the activities that go on... and the sunshine and blue skies, when they are here (hopefully not much rain)... and the warmth... going out and eating ice cream... bbqs...and the feeling of general lightheartedness that surrounds summer...

Watching my seedling grow; flowers and veggies
Getting up early in the morning, sitting on my deck or the back yard and listening to the wild birds waking up (my doves and paraketes are too loud! LOL) Watering my seedlings Watering or just sitting and looking at all the beautiful plants and flowers hubby has planted in the front yard!!!! This year, I've even enjoyed getting a sun tan! ![]() Sitting out in the back yard in the late afternoon Building a fire in the fire ring right before sunset and watching it get dark. If we're lucky, we get a beautiful sunset Looking at the Big Dipper; it's the only stars that are visible in the middle of a big city Listening to the owls calling to each other Listening to all the smaller birds "saying their evening prayers" (that's what my mom used to tell me ![]() Having my family over for a BBQ and watching my baby boy and his dad interact (OMG!! LMAO!!) Having my granddaughter run to me to ask me if she can do something or anything and getting a great big hug and a kiss to ensure she can do it (SIGH!) ![]() Sitting outside and planning camping trips with hubby, even if they're just "plans" that don't happen

SeptemberMorn,
My kids are experts on catching fireflies( of course they learned from the best) WE can send you some, but not sure they would make the trip!!!!! Jammer, I agree with you about the heat, Texas (especially Central Texas) is horribly hot. Not just hot but humid also!!!!

First and foremost NO CLASS!!!
After that I'd have to say the fact that the sun stays out... or even shows up at all. Winter is awful, 6 days out of a typical winter week in Ohio is COLD GRAY and MISERABLE. |

Yes, there actually are people who have SAD in summer, some in spring, etc. I have read this fact in book on SAD, don't have title handy, but check round in books on the subject, helped me to know this also.
I'll get myself back on track, hmm......more summer loves..........the scent of honeysuckle thick in the evening air. Yum.

Ah! That's one of the drawbacks of not having a hot summer. None of the fragrant flowers are all that fragrant out here. I've got the pink jasmin in the back yard and it IS very fragrant in the spring, but hardly blooms the rest of the year. I've got Star Jasmin in the front and I THINK I caught a whiff of it just now when we got home. My roses hardly smell at all.
Ok... now I'm REALLY getting bummed! ![]() ![]() ![]()

My favorite thing about Summer is the time we get to spend at our cottage in New Hampshire. My family lives in New York about 6 hrs and away from us and they come up alot over the summer so I get to see them more. It also is the one place that I can truly relax.
I also enjoy golfing & just being outdoors

No school...woohoo
The smell of freshly mowed hay - lawn is an ok substitute Mowing the lawn! Drive-in nights Spending time with my mom I may actually be enjoying gardening...it's shocking. Don't really enjoy the heat...if it could be 70 and sunny all summer, I would be thrilled. But since we got an air conditioner in the bedroom it is not as bad, I can at least sleep. I don't much mind Ohio winters. I'm pretty much resigned to them. ![]()
