Well, I'm having really bad 'visions' lately. Ever since my uncle passed away, I keep reliving the moment my mother woke me up and.. uhg. Told me "something terrible happened" but she was making noises that were indescribable. Now it's like, I'm reliving that in different settings and outcomes and I don't know how to stop. It brings me to tears every time I think about it. We were all every close, and I just need help. Please help? What could be wrong with me?

death is very difficult and in a family that is really close and the death is unexpected it can be every a traumatic life changing event. Give youself time to breathe and grieve - help is always available in various forms including this site when you need it ~

Losing a close family member can be extremely traumatic. Especially if this loss was unexpected.

Being brought out of sleep to be told of this loss can make it even more painful to deal with. You are going through the grieving process right now, and believe it or not, your experiences are normal for right now. You and your family have suffered an acute stress, and everyone deals with this differently. Some folks begin to relive these moments as you are and it is very painful for them.

My suggestion is to do like KDlady stated....breathe...allow yourself to feel your feelings and allow yourself to cry. What you are experiencing, although not pleasant, is healthy and with time should resolve.

Maybe try talking with family about your visions. Allow yourself to be comforted and supported by them. Remember your Uncle fondly and maybe even write down some good times that you remember having with him.

Some people like to hold their own personal vigil for their loved ones...like a ceremony of their own. You could try this too. You could by a nice candle, find some of his favorite music and light the candle in remembrance of him. You could do it yourself, or include family members.

If it seems like you are not feeling better over time, you may want to seek some counseling.

But keep posting here, if you like. We're always available to listen and offer support.
