does anyone ever feel restless/mind racing but no energy to do anything about it? what do you do? force yourself up?

My inclination is to do one thing that I can finish. Once I do one thing, it often leads to another. The idea is to make the task rather simple so you know you will likely succeed. Success can breed success. Then try something harder.
Good luck. |

Well...yes and no (on forcing yourself up).
You need to be able to sit with the discomfort and know that, most likely, it is your brain chemistry that is running amuck...unless there is a current legit threat of your life. Then, what I try and do when this happens, is some self soothing which may include putting on some music, taking a warm bath, working some crafts/puzzles...something that can pull my mind away. Believe it or not...exercise works wonders for turning off/down the constant restless/racing mind. And, it doesn't take much. Maybe a brisk 10 minute walk, or something that can get your heart rate up. If you can increase your heart rate and stimulate your central nervous system, this will lead to your body secreting dopamine (a neurotransmitter) which will begin to counteract the other chemicals that are off. It can be difficult though when you are feeling poorly but your mind won't stop. I hope this helps a bit... ![]()

Yeah.... I've felt like that all day. It seems to help to force yourself to do things that are productive. I always feel a small sense of accomplishment after wards, which improves my state of mind a bit. Like today, I made myself sit down and do my math homework. It was really difficult to concetrate at first, but before I knew it, the math took over my mind and I finished it no problem. It was actually a nice little escape.
Hope you feel better! |

My mind races all the time. With things to do and things I should be doing. Rather annoying for me is that I can never muster the energy to do something about it and ease the racing thoughts. I'll get it right one day.
Hope you feel better soon.

I think that at some point almost everyone has felt this way..I read (alot)romance novels, mysteries, suspense pretty much anything I can get my hands on. It is like I get to enter that realm and for just awhile be someone else. Then if that doesn't work I write. Mostly I write poetry but just writing my feelings helps alot too then I usually destroy it...almost like ending those feelings and starting new. I hope that you find your center and hang in there

This is my least favorite way to feel in my disorder. I find that my mind is going a mile a minute, but my body is in super slo motion. The conflict between my brain and my body often cause me then to have a lot of trouble with my anxiety. I hate it. I'd rather just be up or down, not both at the same time.

I tend to procrastinate when my mind goes into overdrive.. I convince myself that I can do it tomorrow.. Unfortunately it's usually a week or two before I do anything about it..Total lack of motivation..

Yes, feel like that often...have to push yourself and after you finish doing it you feel good abot it and I usually tend to do more afterwards....look past the negative thoughts if you can and just humor the positive.

i tend to go on how i'm feeling at the time and look at what i've done in previous days. sometimes if i feel like i need a break from doing stuff and trying to take care of things in my mind i'll just chill usually.

I feel like that a lot- like angry agression that winds up my mind, but tires my body out. I tend to just rest and I feel better whern I wake up.
