Today my mom, step-dad, brother, and I got into a bad car accident, someone going the opposite way we were went into diabetic shock and was in our lane so we got into a head on collision. My bother and I are OK, despite some muscle strain (whiplash is the technical term, right?) and my seat belt banged me up a little and I lost my glasses, my step-dad is also alright- he just banged his bad knee and it hurt, my mom is getting x-rays and might have to stay overnight because she was banged up the most and they want to make sure she doesn't have any spine injuries (but other then having to pee and the neck brace being uncomfortable she isn't doing too bad). If we were in a small car and/or not wearing our seat belts it could have been a lot worse, I could have left my kitties and puppy orphaned BUT! Everyone is OK. My head hurts from the eyestrain because I've been without my glasses for a couple hours and my eyes are really bad (I am just sitting REALLY close to my comp lol) good thing I needed a new prescription anyways so I'm getting new ones tomorrow afternoon. I am NOT looking forward to my neck and shoulders hurting like hell these next few days as my adrenaline wears off and I can truly feel the extent of my muscle strain

actually, if it was just this current level of mild discomfort I'd be OK, but I know it won't remain that way , at least I know where the Advil is tomorrow.

Yeah, the doc at the hospital said it will hurt for the next few days, and my relatives there said it'd probably hurt really bad tomorrow

EDIT: I'm glad I am alive too, I just realized how much it would have killed my dad if he lost both my brother and I in that crash.

That must have been so scary. I'm so glad everyone is going to be fine and it sounds like it's all minor injuries. Thank goodness you all had seatbelts on. I would rather deal with pain from a seatbelt than not wake up again!!

Please take time to relax and rest right now. Your bodies have all been jossled and shocked. They deserve some tender loving care now I would start taking the advil or anything that helps reduce swelling right now and hopefully you won't have to suffer the worst of it. But that's just me.....

Take good care hon!

OMG! Talk about a close call. Thank God that none of you were hurt worse! Take good care of yourself for the next few days. Try muscle rub for your aches and pains. Thats has worked for me in the past. Your gonna be sore, but look at this as a wake up call. Do something that you would have never done before. "Live life like you were dying"

aside from the parts where the seat belt where, I'm not really all that sore yet (can't fall asleep though, I did for a few hours but then dad wanted to make sure I was OK and since then I can't fall back asleep) my mind is just going 100 miles per hour, thinking about what I want to do tomorrow (hmmm... maybe I'll catch up on playing Pokemon platinum as I havn't played in awhile or maybe read some more of The Plague Dogs, I love Snitter... poor pup is crazy from all that brain surgery but...) what kind shape I'll be in tomorrow... right now I'm not sore but who knows? It'll probably get worse... and what kind of glasses I'll get tomorrow, and wondering if my eyesight has gotten better, worse, or is the same since last time when the eye doctor said I was almost bad enough to be considered legally blind... and I was also thinking about if my friends were going to stop over or something since they heard the news and was worried (I know one is)

is it any wonder I can't sleep?

Some funny things:

  1. All doctors seem to be cute. Even the old ones (cute in a grand-pa like way) I wasn't crushing on them or anything, not really the kind of cute I crush on, but did make a mental note of it.
  2. I am proud to announce I did not dissociate. Unlike the last time something like this happened
  3. One of the nurses there thought I told her I was 12 . After she realized I was 18 she said I did look awfully tall for 12 if I was (and I thought to myself I'd look awfully developed for a 12 year old, early bloomers schmerly bloomers I've never seen a 12 year old with a C-cup), I told her at least I could pass for 12, and she just said I should take advantage of that and try and get the child discount at the movies next time I go and it was even more funny because a different nurse thought my brother looked like he was 16 and he's 20. She told him you'll appreciate looking younger then you actually are when you are older.

Glad to hear that everyone is alright. It does sound like it could have been a lot worse, but you will still feel the residual muscle strain.

Don't be shocked if your nerves get to you a little bit for a while to when your in the car.

I hope the driver of the other car was okay too.

Keep us posted on how you're getting along.

Wow, Kaika - you can have my milk and cookies to go along with your Pokemon. That was a wild ride, huh? I'll bet you'll be checking those lines from here on out. I'm glad you and your family are okay, though a little banged up.

My family moved from Washington State to Chicago when I was 2. I always liked to sleep on the "dash" behind the back seat and stare up and out of the window. We had an accident too. Someone cut my dad off in traffic, and he had to slam on the breaks real fast.

I flew through the air, bounced off the back of dad's seat, and landed on the floor board in the back. Mom took one look at me down on the floor and said "Eh, she's fine - lets keep going."

My son is a little "shell-shocked" after coming home from war. He was out partying with some of his (girl) friends, and they were on their way home on the highway. My son was in the passenger seat.

They spotted a vehicle that had careened into a ditch, and it looked pretty bad. My son screamed "PULL OVER!" He jumped out of the car before she could fully pull over and come to a stop and he raced over to the vehicle.

There was no one inside. There was NO ONE INSIDE! He frantically started scouring the brush looking for bodies that may have been thrown.

From behind, he hears a couple of guys say, "Dude, it's okay - the police just left....but THANKS.

I was up when he came home. I asked him if he had a good time, and he said "Um yeah, it was pretty wild."

Enjoy your games, ((Kaika))

So, I got my new glasses today, which are purple of course.

My old glasses were found but were so mangled up it didn't matter anyways, I probably stepped all over then getting out of the car. It's taking me a little while to get used to them... thankfully my right eye is not getting worse (my bad eye- almost legally blind in it) but my left eye is catching up to it. I was concerned when I couldn't even read the big E on the eye chart ... but everything is pretty groovy again.
Thanks for this!
