Maybe we could all just close it ourselves and not post anymore as a courtesy to Miss A. She's asked that it be closed and we should respect her wishes. Hope I'm not stepping on any toes... Should there be a age restriction Should there be a age restriction

you are mature for your age but could you really tell me how to cope with life when you haven't experienced real live yourself.

I think what Kathie meant is that she's lived a longer life and experienced much more than a 14 yr old could since she is still living at home. Kathie looks old enough to have been out on her own and had responsibilities and problems that Miss _A couldn't possibly have had... regardless of her maturity.

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">

That's sounds logical, and I appreciate the explanation. However, I still think people misjudge others' ability to help others. Experience is not the quality that is necessary to help others "cope with life." The quality necessary is empathy.

Knowledge helps too. To me, teens can only add what they have experienced, since their knowledge base is often limited. Just like others though, imo, their views are shaped by their experiences. Should there be a age restriction

By the time I was in my 20s I had had many experiences and had added established knowledge to that. However, even with that, my counseling/advice to others, say about how to raise a child, was not accepted merely because of my age. (Even though it might have been the exact same counseling that would have been given by someone older than I!)

But this site is not about knowledge, remember? It's about support: giving and receiving. We are fortunate when another member also has good information, too.

Just want to clarify, I DID NOT suggest you lock this thread, I simply said that you made a post/poll, people shared their views and suggestions, and the thread has become exhausted.
And now it shall be Doc John's decision of if a teen forum is added or not.
Patience can have its rewards.
