ouch! sorry for my last post. I am calmer now. I am not really mad about the damage to the car; I am more mad about the hasstle this was. I was running late for a something important when this happened. I am hurting now. My seatbelt malfunctioned or something. I was wearing it but it didn't lock up and I hit the stearing wheel. I feel bad about how mean I was to this guy. He was being really unobservant though. He must have been going pretty fast because his airbags came out. My car no longer has a trunk and I am stuck with my bfs rickety old pickup lol. At least the guy said he will pay for it. I guess I could have been really unlucky if he didn't have insurance or something. Thanks for listening to me rant.

Rant all you want. If it makes you feel any better I have a story for you. (this happened May 15 2002 with a brand new car)

I was working late one night so by the time i got out of work it was pitch dark (like 10:30 pm). I turned down this counry road (no street lights) without a thought and as i go down this road I think about the next day and that I had to go to the Dr to have a stress test (28 wks pregnant). I go up this little hill and as i come down it I saw animal eyes. I didn't have time to hit my brakes so I crashed right into it. I heard the metal crunching the winshield breaking and then the back window. I didn't have my lap belt on just the automatic shoulder belt. I felt something running down my arm (blood). I grabbed my cell phone and called 9-1-1. They told me that I had to know my exact location and I didn't know it. Finally they said that someone else called and they are sending first response. When they got there and couldn't open my door I asked them what I hit. They said a cow. I was in disbelief. The owners of the cow were there and it was thier prize winning bull that had gotten out. Two days later my daughter was born 12 weeeks premature. At first I started thinking about sueing them, until I told God that if my baby survives then I wouldn't sue. Elisa is noe 3 yrs old and she is tiny, but other than that no lasting effects.

I am happy that you didn't get hurt too badly.

These are always nervewracking! I, too, am glad you are not seriously hurt... but don't sign off on anything yet, as whiplash can wait several days to "show" up with pain. My mother's recent accident also revealed seatbelts that didnt work right. It was said when the locking belts came out that we should have them checked each time we brake hard and they lock,as they might not lock the next time. I haven't any idea how the mechanic "checks" them... maybe I'll ask sometime.

I hope you stay ok. TC

I'm glad you are okay. But I have had close calls with self absorbed drivers on their cell phones.
I have one, it is only turned on if I either pull off the road or pull off the road with an emergency.
Cell phone use has gotten way out of control, my own opinion and coming from an older generation. We all got by without one. I just get so mad when at a special event or memorials, someone can't follow directions and shut the phone off, believe me they will not die for a few moments.
Okay, sorry, I digressed (I always do Carwreck ) I want you to know I feel for you and this moron crying? Good, let him cry, he should repent for being such a self centered, pathetic driver, not being responsible on the road, grrrrrrrrr!
Glad to hear you are okay, anyway Carwreck

Hi Gem, I hope you are OK. What a terrible thing to happen... and when you have somewhere you HAVE to be. Try to take it easy and let your body rest and heal...you're going to be in some pain after hitting the wheel.

Let us know how you are doing and take good care of yourself.

I'm so lucky for you that no one got really badly hurt. That guy was stupid to be driving and holding his mobile at the same time. Yea he should pay for the damaged he cause you and your car. But I didn't think he meant it at all. If he was crying then he really didn't mean it at all! Just another careless driver on the dangerous roads. I remember being in the back of my friends car. They stop at the tafferic lights and a lorry bashed right in the back of us. Causing spinning and hitting other cars. It was in germany when I stayed at some friends house. The lorry guy wasn't concertrating on the road even though he wasn't holding a phone or smoking. Could have been drinking or listening to loud music? But I was young once again when this happend 12. I was in the car getting topped off back to the air port. When bang, I totally blanked out lucky that everyone was ok and wearing seat blets. Then when the car finally stopped. I opened my eyes, someone said are you ok? Then we all got out of the car. Shocken what had happend. 5 cars in total got hit. But our car was the most worse. I could have died. The driver are friend had to go to hospital as he fatured his rib from the seat belt. But as I was so pissed off. When I got out of the car I was swearing at everyone! My mum had to calm me down also crying. Just be glad it wasn't some one else that got hurt!
