Does anybody else have this?
Or even know what this is?

I was told it's a posh name for BPD by a friend, but I'm awfully confused & I'd appreciate feedback?

Thanks.

I haven't heard of it and find nothing when I search for it. Are you sure you heard right?

it sounds like you are talking about complex ptsd as it is sometimes used as an alternative diagnosis to bpd. they really aren't the same though from what i've read. if you do a search here on the forums for complex ptsd you'll find some discussion on it.

Sorry, I was unable to track down a source that discussed Complex Emotional Disorder. This article on Borderline Personality Disorder certainly is complex.

around here (USA) those three words used together does not mean a name of a mental disorder. It is a description used to say the persons disorder/problem is complex (having many issues, symptoms) that are emotional (related to how the person feels)

Example a person who has bulimia their problem/ disorder may be a complex (have many issues - control, peer pressure, family pressure, media pressure ) that is causing them emotional distress - feeling like they are too fat, not good enough, feel like they need to fit in with the popular crowd.

Another example a person with PTSD - their disorder/problem may be complex (have many issues Rape, family attitude to their being raped, community issues, prosecution issues, work issues,) that are causing them emotional distress ( feeling dirty, guilty, like they may have deserved it, ashamed how their body reacted during the rape, panic and anxiety)

another example someone with depression may be said to have a complex emotional disorder because their problem/disorder has many issues (medications, depression, mania, hypomania, peer pressure, family attitudes community attitudes) that may be causing them emotional distress (feeling like they are crazy, that they did something to cause their disorder, confused because one minute they feel fine the next deeply depressed, worried about trying to get stabilized, worried about medication reactions, unsure of whats normal and whats not)

That isn't a DSMIV diagnosis, so I don't know what to tell you. If I were you, I'd speak to the doctor who gave you the diagnosis and find out exactly what it means.

I can't at the moment, I don't see him again, he's discharged me.

I'll ask my Psychiatrist on the 22nd.
