Hey guys.

Got a question for you all. What do you guys thing about furries?

If your not on the loop about furry fandom, here's a brief introduction. A furry is a person with an obsession with animals with human traits like walking on hind legs, speaking human languages, etc. Some of these people wish to be those animals. Some people will even get costumes of these animals (called fursuits). Some people who are into the fandom will make a furry persona called a "fursona" and act as that animal on the internet. That's the jist of it anyway.

Some people believe it's a medical condition when really it's a stylistic choice. Or, if you believe in reincarnation, it could be that in a past life you were not human.

I'm like this to an extent. I don't have a fursuit, but I do have a fursona and I read webcomics about furries (mostly erotic stuff, mind you).

I think about it a bit like I think of people who play Dungeons and Dragons and other Internet games or do/believe anything else in an "extreme" way; I have a friend who use to be a "Trekkie" (with uniform :-)

The strange thing is that people make fun of it all the time. Especially on the internet. I get a lot of messages saying "Yiff in hell, furfag" (furfag is a derogitory term for furry, which is assuming that all furries are homosexual). I've seen other scientific fourms closing on this topic because people were trying to defend themselves. Oh, they think BDSM is okay, but with furries, it's all immoral. What the hell?

I really hate the internet sometimes but there are places to go to where you can be "safe" from all the hate.

I understand that if you're a furry, everyone is not out trying to get you, but with all the negative messages and hateful arguments against it, one cannot help but feel guilty about it.

Another thing is that I dislike it when people think that furries commit beastiality. I don't really have an argument against this, although I wish I would.

I don't think hanging around erotic sites is a great idea as there will always be predators and ugly comments and not a whole lot of "truth" or way to judge what's true and what's not. It's a little like hanging around alleyways and hoping to not get mugged.

I don't know too much about it -would you say it's classified as a fetish? I saw a show on 'people on the outside fringes' and it had a man who's goal was, to look like a cat. IMO this is the extreme side. He had surgery to split his tongue(even though cats don't have split tongues) and metals plugs implanted in his cheeks so he could snap on whiskers. Had implants to get that jowled look. I would like to know what incompetent doctor performed these surgeries. He wore a spandex tiger printed body suit with a long tail, with gloves with claws in public. I don't know if what this man does is related(larger scale) to what you're talking about. He wanted to be a cat not content to just dress like one

On a mild scale I would say it's fine as long as it's not interfering in your quality of life.

Meh, it's just a lifestyle choice, I guess. It is funny how we westies like to push our "freedom" on everything... but at the same time we are busy labelling our own people as "not normal".

Not my style though (although I like to say "meow" as greeting to my closest friends, mind you!).

Some people may classify it as a fetish. I think it should be only classified as a fetish is the person is not into the furry subculture.

Yeah, you're right, buddy. Sometimes I can't help it. I am a dirty, horny adolescent after all.

As long as it isn't interfering with your quailty of life, doing harm to you or anyone else I don't see a problem with it. We all have our little quirks and interests, as long as it's done in a healthy and safe way there is nothing wrong with it.

Best Wishes

There's nothing dirty about eroticism but it is only limitedly related to love, and the internet variety doesn't seem to attract the most mature, salient of persons?

Of all the ways you might be learning about sex and love as an adolescent, it's probably not the most helpful for your future.

Eh.
Furry is a choice- just like well-... err... Futa, I guess.
Yeah.
It's not super-recognized by alot of people but- no- it's not any sort of real mental crap.
Just a choice.

Damn, I've been trying to say that for years! It's nice to know someone got the message...

What you speak of is not interesting to me. It does not have to be. As long as you are not harming yourself or others, it is not my prerogative to tell you to stop.
Thanks for this!

I don't quite get what the definition of a 'Furry' is. Would Miley Cyrus's latest video where she has wings fall into this classification? Can you provide an additional description of what it incorporates, besides what you wrote in your original post?

I really do not have a problem with this, but if I am invited to a dinner party by a furrie, I will refrain from eating the kibble nor shall I use the litter box.
Thanks for this!
