This is something that would happen to me during a severe mixed mood episode with psychosis, panic attacks and increased sensory issues. I would basically get into a state where I failed to recognize the world around me. I would be totally in my mind of chaotic thoughts. I didn't know at all what was going one around me, then I would suddenly snap back into the real world. I did this while driving before and I almost got into an accident.
Also I sometimes would just be in general confused in this state. I remember taking myself to the hospital and it took a good 15 minutes to figure out how to get my car into the parking garage. I probably shouldn't have drove myself to the hospital anyway. Also, sometimes my senses would fail me. My hearing would not only be 10 times normal, but I sometimes could not distinguish sounds very well. And my vision... sometimes I would get periods where I could not tell what I was looking at anymore suddenly.

Have you discussed these issues with your T? What were their thoughts?

Yeah, they said it was all part of the psychosis. But I get very odd psychosis symptoms, except for the delusions and occasional hallucinations, the rest is like problems I normally have but exaggerated 10 times.
I have problems with moods but they get lots worse. The hallucinations and delusions appear when normally I'm just a bit paranoid Sensory issues get ALOT worse I am normally kinda anxious, but during these times, I get panic attacks. But my meds, abilify and lamictal, bring these things down to acceptable levels again.

Birdcrazy,
Tell your therapist your symptoms since your meds may need to be adjusted so you don't have to suffer so. I'm wishing you all the best. |

I'm not having these problems now, I was just wondering about past symptoms.

I can totally relate to "I would basically get into a state where I failed to recognize the world around me. I would be totally in my mind of chaotic thoughts". I would be having a conversation, and all of a sudden it's almost like my brain shuts down. I can still kind of hear that some talking is going on, but not much.
