Futz, I think you might find that we are grateful for you too...your charm, witt and sense of fun not weighing you down and other things....so I am really glad that you have things to be happy about

I am trying to find some answers. My granddaughter says that I have a mental disorder because I think everything in life relates to me. Is there such a disorder and if yes, what is it called? For example, last night we went to dinner. My son-in-law had a post-it note on his steering wheel. I said "It looks like he's started using post-it's like me". They told me because I saw ONE post-it note, that did not mean he was turning into me. I just can't understand what was wrong with what I said or what might be my mental disorder. Anyone know?

I do not think you said anything wrong. Please do not allow others to define who you are.

To Confused60, welcome to PC! Unless your family members are psychiatrists, I do believe you have received an "armchair diagnosis" as my therapist likes to say about people who go about making untrained observations and labeling people. The label your family member might have been referring to is Narcisistic Personality Disorder. Interesting research in that. Seriously though, you do not have to have a diagnosis to come here. This a wonderful community to just come and to talk things out or put your two cents in to help someone out! Hope to see you around the boards!
