Hello Friends,
I'm confused as to what I am, exactly. I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder in 1997 and I thought that was all there was to it. But I've since learned that there are two types. I STAY depressed all the time, but I can recall maybe 2 episodes of mania. I think that I am Bipolar 2, more on the depressive side, but I was told that I am Bipolar I because of the mania episodes. Could someone that knows something please clear this up for me? My Sissypoo is Bipolar I, but she has alot of manic episodes and I don't. If someone truly knows the answer, would you please give it to me? By the way, if you find my head would you kindly return that to me also??? I have definitely lost my head and it's futile for me to look!
Huggles,
Dee

The main difference from what I gather is the intensity of the mania.
BP I has full blown mania, which often requires hosiptalistation.
BP II has more hypomanic episodes, that is not quite full blown mania. It still includes racing thoughts, increased energy, less need for sleep...

But only a psychiatrist or psychologist can really make a diagnosis.

I'm BP, and also spend most of my time in depressive or mixed states. I've never had full blown mania either

WOW, Sugahorse, thank you for the awesomely quick response! I have the racing thoughts, where I can't turn my mind off to get to sleep, etc. But my couple manic episodes are nothing like my Sissypoo's, she might be up for 4 days solid. With mine, my OCD got worse and I was even going around covering every scratch or nick on my walls with whiteout! However, I was able to sleep the next night. I'm having anxiety tonight and cannot sleep, I don't feel manic, because I have an appointment at my Pain Clinic later this morning and I need my pain med dosage increased again. I don't have another procedure done on my back, for relief, until July 28th. I'm just hoping this dude cooperates with me and doesn't cause me to go into panic mode or feel hostile, so I'm very nervous and anxious right now...no sleep for me. Anywho, thank you for replying to my question.
Huggles,
Dee

Not a hassle at all!

We have a Bipolar forum on here too - come join us there and ask any BP specific questions

Thank you very much, Sugahorse, because I am new...just joined yesterday... and trying to find my way around. I thought we had chat here but I don't see it, that was one way I planned on getting to know you all and make alot of life-long friends. I'll find the Bipolar forum when I need to, but I have several more problems besides being Bipolar. I truly appreciate your help...
Huggles,
Dee

on the top you'll find a "chat" hyperlink. Scroll right to the top - it's a white button. This time of the day it usually quiet. I'm in South Africa, so I'm never on here at the time when most American people are, but I still add my 2 cents.

Sweet Sugahorse,
I'm sorry that I keep torturing you like this, but is there anywhere you can "add friends" to a list, etc.? Thank you so very much, I found the chat button you told me about! Hahahaha! I'm slightly slow, due to my mental disorders and the pain medication I am on. I hope I don't come up with anymore questions, if so... I'll try my best to bite my tongue, or break my fingers! You have been very good to me and patient with me, there's not alot of people like you in this mad world now...never change! Stay SWEET!
Huggles,
Dee
