I don't usually get scared about raised voices, but I just called the cops because the people right behind me are screaming, and he threated to kill her or burn down the house.

I hate this! This isn't something I'm used to at all.

You've done the right thing, hopefully the police will come soon. Be safe.

Yeah, that is scary Beholden.

Hopefully, the police will help resolve the situation and the couple will get help in working things through. No fun to see happening ~ but reassurring to see others do care when you're one stuck in the situation. Know what I mean?

Good for you for standing up!!

Watch this video. It was a social experiment showing how people will typically turn the other cheek when they hear or suspect violence. I'm so glad that you called and potentially helped save a life!!

Good move, it could be nothing or it could be dangerous, as others have said, better to be safe.

Hopefully the police responded quickly and helped resolve the situation. Where I come from, police generally don't respond very quickly to domestic violence issues.

Dearest Beholden

A safe and wise thing to do for both of them and for yourself

I hope that this helps you with feeling safe and that it helps your neighbour to feel safety too

Thanks all for your safe well wishing.

Two squads showed up within a little while and asked which house it was since I didn't have the street address. They both got out of their cars and looked behind my house. They drove around the block and checked it out.

I don't really know what was going on over there, but it stopped. This is a very quiet, good and safe place to live. Makes me get a tiny sense of what some people have to live like in the unsafe areas of the city.

I'm beholden for having the police show up quickly and that nothing serious went down, as least as far as I know. And especially grateful to have a wooded lot that makes it a bit hard to see between me and their home.
Thanks for this!

Here, the police are always around when you need them the least. When you need them the most, they're nowhere to be found!
