I want to move up north. To Maine or Masachusetts. Some New England. Some place pretty and spooky. I don't know why I associate New Engalnd with halloween but I do and that's my favorite time of year. i just want to get out of Kentucky. I am not very good at staying put for too long. 6 years in one house is wearing on me. I want to just pack up my kids and husband sell everything and move. I am so bored with the same old scenery. Day in day out same thing. Go to the store once a day for cigs and a newspaper. Go to town once a week for groceries and new books at the library. And to the other town once a month for pdoc and gp visits. Cleaning day on Monday. Laundry day on Saturday. Boy Scouts on Tuesday. I am so bored I could just crawl out of my skin. Nothing to do. No family to visit. Nothing. My life has become a big schedualed ritual that I am sick to hell of. I hate settling. I hate this. Same t.v. shows at night. Mabye rent a movie on Saturdays. I think that's what is wrong with me. I feel trapped here. I thought i would love to settle down and be in one spot forever but nope. I feel like I am just going to wither away here. Grow old and die here.

I hate that trapped feeling. I understand how you are feeling. Just letting you know you aren't alone.

Hello Thunderbear,

I've never been in one place too long. But the one place I am in now is where I'd love to stay but may not be able to.

It's funny how things seem greener on the other side of the fence isn't it? Most people want stability and security and others want anything but.

Hi from New England- You probably associate N.England with Halloween because of Salem,Mass. and the witch trials. I believe that there are still many people there who practice witchcraft.
Even though New England is beautiful, the Winters are extremely long and depressing and you can feel very isolated depending on your location.
We sometimes have temps of 15 below 0 or colder! I bet you would would miss Kentucky after 1 Winter of that. lol Yes,the grass always seems greener on the other side.Hope you have a good week.

Greetings,

If moving would truly promote happiness in your life, find a way to do so. Instead of sitting yearning for change in your life, get up and make it happen.

Stay Positive!

Have a good one.
Thanks for this!

Yeah out here in Ky it can swing either way in the winter. The year i had my oldest son, he was born in January. The night I went to the hospital it was -8 below. Three days later when we came hom it wwas in the 60's. One year we had a bad snowstorm ( snow/ice storms seem to alternate with eachother) it got -16 below for more than 2 weeks. I love the cold. i love winter. That's another reson I want to go up north. In the winter, my allergies don't bother me at all. And I just love how it looks and having to wear 5 layers of clothes lol most people hate it but i don't.

Ah... One way or another, this is worth considering. We're all a tangled mass of "systems." Were you to do something to alleviate your allergies, it might end up helping your mood and depression as well.

Be well and whole, Thunderbear

I have moved a lot - and each place is different, yet the same too. Somebody said when you move, you take yourself - and that's true. And also each move has been harder on me as I grow older - and not only that, the move before last I experienced cancer too and so wasn't as strong for the next move.

I have lived up north in Minnesota and I'm visiting there now. But my home at present is in Colorado. And now that I've arrived here to visit my best friend - even though I love my friend and miss her- I do think Colorado is best for me.

but you know - its a hard call. Now in Colorado when I'm depressed - I threaten to go live in the mountains/forests with the bears. And if the bears eat me - I always say I will go out feeding the hungry (bad, bad humor! ha ha).
Thanks for this!

If you live near the ocean, Massachusetts weather really isn't too bad. That's where I lived for almost 10 years. I love the ocean and really miss it now that I'm pretty much land locked.

Maybe you could take your kids and family up there for a vacation some time? Fall is so pretty in Mass! There are actually tours that come up from New York all the time just to look at the leaves! I'm not sure how long the drive would be, but maybe for a week or a long weekend, you could go camping (there's a lot of camp grounds all over the state).

My cousin and his wife LOVE Halloween (got married on Oct. 27th, had a halloween themed wedding) and honeymooned in Salem, Mass, which is also where they got engaged.

I hope you can find peace and a place where you can take care of yourself and your family
Thanks for this!

I've Moved around Quite a Bit...St'louis birth-5 tehran Iran 5-7 Baltimore 7-10 loganville 11-18 Boston 18-23 Daytona bch 23-37 Bradenton Fl 37-40 Stephen mn. 40-present day.
While I was living in those places I was always thinking someplace else would be better. and after moving away, They looked like it really was a decent place to live...

I would enjoy a visit to Boston, liked the history, but did'nt do much while there was in the bars most of the Time..

Now I'm living in a Tiny town in NW Minnesota...No stores are open after 12 on Sunday....closest stop light id 40 miles away....I do miss the convenience of living in a bigger town or city

Hello, thunderbear. Who knows? If you move, maybe you could leave some baggage behind?

I am with the feeling of the OP... wanting to move away.

But I want to move south actually (Southern Europe... preferably Italy). I need sunshine, I love the sea. I want to live in a place where figs grow wild and where can I wear just dresses for most of the year

I like my country, but honestly, the people here are boring and lack the right passion for anything... And the winters are too long and cold.

I actually have few (foolish) plans how to make this dream of mine come true.
Thanks for this!

Each time that feeling hits me I don't hesitate, I just go, even if all I do is move house but remain in the same town. I've done it around 130 times. Sometimes it's been to another town, other times to another city, often to another country. It can be very therapeutic. But you must be careful you don't move away from something you have become in some way reliant upon (in a positive way that is), but haven't realised it. Make sure it is available to you in the new place.
