My job is messing with my brain, or the other way around. When I get too stressed out, I get depressed. When I get too bored, I get antsy.
Can anyone help me think of a job where the stress level is pretty much stable day in and day out, 365 days a year? Not super stressful, but not boring? Something fulfilling? I'm a CPA but tax season is a no-go, and so is working in industry (my current job) because of month-end and year-end close. I'm thinking I may need a complete career overhaul. Thoughts?

Hello, Martina. Maybe you could get some help calling the Oregon Employment Department. My state does aptitude and jobs skills testing before doing job matching.

Well in accounting it's seriously hard to avoid month end and year end closings. If you want to stay in the field you might try looking for a revenue analyst or financial analyst role, or budget analyst job. They sometimes aren't as involved in period end closings.
Good luck. --splitimage |

You might want to look at doing accounting for a smaller or not for a public company if you work for a big or public company. If you like accounting, you won't have to give up your CPA or start a new career. You will probably always have deadlines, but smaller and private companies are more flexible with deadlines and most of them are internal and may not matter that much.

I was going to say grant writing for non-profits since there's a lot of financial guess work
![]() You could try working for an accounting software firm as a trainer or something? http://www.job-search-engine.com/key...tware-trainer/
