Basically my old school district gave me some of my old psych evaluations as a kid. I am thinking about posting one here with my name blacked out, but I'm not for sure.

Anyway my last pdoc's theory was childhood bipolar, but he barely skimmed them. He just said that because I'm bipolar now I think, but actually that could have been it. Back then it was called ADHD what I had. They basically said my childhood was the past and I should focus on the present.

I am going to show them to my current pdoc later this week, but I was wondering if I want these looked at seriously, if I should show them to a child psychologist maybe??? I'm not sure I could get one however.

Thoughts? Suggestions? How important is this?

Bird, I know you have had a lot of questions about hwat has been goin on with you, which I think is normal and good. I uess before I could advise you on this, I'd have to know a littel bit more about what you arehoping the doc might be able to tell you based on the school reports?

Childhood bipolar was often/always diagnosed as ADHD/hyperactivity because the prevaling theories did not allow for manic depression to occurr in children. Also, hypomania and depression presents differently in children, so it wouldn't look the same. Many children whoo are now diagnosed with autism were then diagnose with childhood schizophrenia for similar reason; the symptoms wer not recognized as autistic symptoms because tey varied from the accepted descriptions.
That last bit was just sort of "Fun facts for fun people". I had teachers who wee sure I has "hyperactive" but I had a sister with ADHD and the people treating here were sure i didn't have the same thing. So it goes Huggs and good luck.

Birdcrazy, what are you hoping will happen if you show the evaluations to your current pdoc?
As for how important it is, you are the only one who can decide that. If it's important to you, then it's important.
I would advise against posting the evaluations on-line. They are your results and you can do with them as you wish, but I'd advise against posting them where the whole world can read them. Would you post the results of medical tests done by your primary care doc?
Thanks for this!

Hi ~ I think I'd just leave it alone and focus on the here and now. Having it looked at wouldn't change anything ~ so it really doesn't matter. What matters is your diagnosis NOW - and how they''re treating it. I wish you the very best of luck. God bless. Hugs, Lee
