(Something I shared elsewhere, that I feel may be useful for others.) Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

Mindfulness.

Are you sitting comfortably, then we'll begin...

OK, make sure you have a good half an hour to yourself, find a comfortable seat.

Allow your thoughts to run where they want to go, any which way that takes you, don't fight it.

Imagine these thoughts as a storm, raging and blowing debris everywhere, whirling and crashing about. Just observe it! You are in the centre of that storm where it is quiet and calm. Continue to let the thoughts rage and thrash about but remember you are safe within the centre of that storm.

Gradually imagine the storm dying down, gently the debris settles to the ground, the whirl wind stops, you can rake in the energy from the storm that you need and let go of the rest.

This takes practice and you have to allow a good deal of time to it but it does help.

doing just that brings me to a state of serenity even if the world i live in is chaotic. i cherish that serenity with a passion. i try to not let my serenity be invaded by others or events in my life. as u stated it takes practice.

hmmmm, I've never tried something like this.... I can surely get into the "storm" all right-- "feeling safe" can be a challenge though and

"you can rake in the energy from the storm that you need and let go of the rest. " ....

"letting go of the rest" --that, I believe, I've not been able to do....
the storm is so consuming and terrifying and upsetting......it's my first 22 years of chaos, abuse and self protection via "disappearing" or numbing.... and then another 15+ years pleading to "deaf" ears for someone to hear me....

letting it go??

god, how can one do that.......

thank you Pegasus for sharing this...
I will give it some tries... yes.
