I agree with SeptemberMorn. I don't think Lexi was pushing her beliefs on you or anything like that. She was just stating how she believes (and her beliefs just happen to be one reason that life is important to her.) No harm in that. Nothing wrong with it.

Good question! For one thing, I truly believe that I was put here for a reason although sometimes I wonder what that reason is. But as long as I'm here, I might as well make it worthwhile.

At this point in my life, it's my grandkids that are the most important.

Becoming the best "me" that I can be

Helping others as they are "laid on my heart"

This website and the dear friends I've made keep me going, sometimes one minute to the next

Seeing the next sunset

Getting affection as well as demands from my pets

Making pretty things with my hands and being able to see what I accomplished

Writing my thoughts and feelings down in black and white with the hopes that it will bring joy, a new perspective, a tear or a memory to someone

Watching my plants and animals being born in the spring, maturing through the summer and either reaching the end of their life or sleeping through the winter

Watching my grandkids growing, maturing and hopefully being able to make their journey a little easier

The hope that if given half a chance, I'll do a better job than I did with my own kids

Being aware of all the gifts that are given to me each day

Gathering wisdom, knowledge, courage and strength through the difficult times

Having faith that when my life reaches it's end, I will hear "Well done, thou good and faithful servant"

I really don't care who sides with who on the debate about whether her post was OK. What I DO care about is that I'm not the only person here who lost a loved one to suicide. To sit here and read that you all think my loved one, who was *severely* mentally ill has been burning in hell for decades is infuriating.

If you believe god made her, then god made her without sufficient seratonin and/or dopamine. I do NOT believe god would punish her for the outcome of her illness any more than he/she would punish her if she died of cancer.

To say suicide is not a choice...well, when a person's illness is in the BRAIN, where choices are made - they can lose the ability to chose with any level of insight.

I tend to agree with emmy, and I can certainly understand her upset about the idea that a loved one might be damned. I would imagine that is a painful idea for anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide.

I didn't mean to "side" with anyone. And I never said anything about anyone burning in hell. I just recently lost a CLOSE friend to suicide. No I do not believe he is burning in hell , and I do believe he was seriously mentally ill. This is turning into something that I'm sure it was never intended to be. And I am now having a hard time dealing again. So I'd better just shut up.

I would like to see this thread go back to the orginal question please? It appears to be turning into a debate on one issue that might not remain appropriate for the forums.

This discussion could be continued in PM?

Thanks! Why is life important to you?

Emmy, I'm so sorry!! I wasn't siding with anyone. Just saying that I GENERALLY believe that way. How is anyone to judge others on where they spend eternity! Certainly not ME! Please forgive me. Why is life important to you?
