Where are you? Cool map!

The pins have been removed. I reiterate that it is NOT a public map and it is NOT plastered all over the net. And, participation is voluntary.

Yes participation is voluntary but what about those who sign on to it and then decide a week or so later they dont want to be on it. There is no way for the person to delete themselves off the map once on it.

That's actually not true, Myself. There are two ways:

1) recently (don't know exactly when), Frappr made available a feature to create an account. If you create or created an account prior to putting yourself on the map, then you can log into your account to edit or delete yourself (or in your case, myself)

2) if you added yourself to the map prior to the "account" feature, or if you didn't create an account, you can PM me here or use the Contact Admin feature (which does work -- I just tested it) and ask me to edit or remove you.

I don't remember if there was an account feature when I signed on it. yes I would appreciate being taken off just in case any relatives happen on this site and other personal reasons, not to mention I don't live exactly there but was the nearest city at that time where I was living.

UMM Not to add fuel to the fire, but since the map is "public" to Psych Central, why then do requests for changes need to be made in private???

Because if any of you are concerned about your privacy, posting the request here (especially if you have your state listed under your name) is defeating the purpose of taking yourself off the map. If you make the request in private, then it's as if you weren't ever on it in the first place.

Not to mention the negative tone this entire thread has taken because of incorrect assumptions.

ummmmm but everyone on this site knows most of each others dx's... so i don't get the point.... i thought the map could be seen by others other than psych central folks. guess i was wrong.. because i did a google search and the map came up but not the psych central map.. i even searched the groups and it still didn't show up.....But still being a statistic on a mental health site doesn't make me smile.... Come to think of it, folks that aren't members of PC that come to visit has access to the map.. anyway... The map is cool as it was originally started...

I configured it to be a PRIVATE map, meaning the ONLY way to get to it is if you know the URL, either via this site or if given the info by someone else. It will not show up in an internet search, unless for some reason Frappr changes their policy and functionality. Every member assumes that risk when adding themselves to the map. Neither PC nor I claim any liability if Frappr does that. It was just something nice I was trying to do for the membership here.

I think the map is a great idea.. I just don't think folks like seeing their names, state and dx to identify who, what, and where they are... that was my only concern.... You look at a location and see a nic and it identifies them with their dx.. (not a cool thing to me).. Like i said, the original map with location and nics is very cooooooooooooooool............Maybe add a hobby or talent or something fun or positive with their names and location.......

LMo......... I have no idea what got into me when I posted so defensively against the dx and map. I don't even have my nic there, so I really had no reason to complain. I hope you didn't remove the (dx) part because of me. It is an option as you stated and I am soooooooo sorry for causing such a fuss. I came back this evening and read what I wrote and really can't understand where I was coming from.

You do a great job here supporting people and I know you felt you were doing something nice for the members here....and I go and rant about for whatever reason I don't even know why..... I just wanted to say I am sorry

I sorted the members by name, then scrolled down and there you were.

It may be that someone else's pin is covering yours. If that's the case, then zoom in on the city -- it usually separates the pins so that you can select each individually

Ok I see me now, but where did hereiam go now? And wants2fly? ... it only has me down here, and then a member in orlando next. why do I have so much trouble with this frappr???
