I've been playing roller derby for a little over a year now, and i love it to death. I however have a huge problem when it comes to confidence. I know im not the best on the team, and after our game last night I hardly got any acclamations on my performance, id say maybe one comment was made towards me well a lot of other girls got tons of kudos. I know that I didn't do a good job at some things, but other things I did great at and they went left unoticed. This makes me beyond upset bc it strips away any confidence I once had. And it makes me jealous of the other girls who started with or after me and are better than me. I feel like I am giving it my all, but Im not getting better. How do I get my confidence back so I can start being as good as the other players?

i like that approach. what a great idea! i'd give it a go. you may find some input useful.
i know i am awful about comparing my skills with others sometimes. i'd like to remind you how awesome an activity you do. i'd be horrible even trying it!!!! just keep practicing, practicing, practicing and don't give up. i'm sure some of your teammates were fairly new too at some point in time. and it's a learned skill. so try not to beat yourself up. keep enjoying the adventure. you needn't feel less than. you're doing a lot more than i would even try to do. i'm not very good at waterskiing, or basketball, etc. but i can still enjoy myself by trying. i bet some of the players may feel some others need more "pumping up". you may be better than you even think

Hello, e.kayem. Letting others define you by what they say, or do not say, is problematical. Why do you participate? Putting the comments aside, do you enjoy playing?
