Quote:
What is the value of an opinion? In a world devoid of absolute certainty, everyone’s beliefs have at least a miniscule possibility of being true. While I do not accept that any beliefs are absolutely true or absolutely false, some opinions have more validity — that is, more probability of being correct — than others. These are the informed opinions: those based on observation, rational consideration, and knowledge of the relevant background material.

Whose opinions are more informed than others? In general, anyone who possesses a lot of knowledge of the background material for a certain event or situation and who has devoted considerable time and effort to observing and analyzing that event or situation. Anyone can fit these criteria, from blog readers to the President of the United States. But in particular, people who are professionals in a field with relevance to the particular situation are uniquely suited to opine publicly on the issue. Their background comes with certifiable credentials; in the course of pursuing their daily occupation, they have imbibed enough of the background material and considered enough of the issues that they are qualified, without compromising their professional disinterestedness in their daily work, to present their informed opinions to the public.

I am not saying I hold the absolute truth.

But I am gonna use my freedom of speech and question the authority, the mainstream and estabilishment. And worry not, I do know thing or two and my opinion is quite informed.

And we are allowed to feel certain way, aren't we?

Um, yes, VenusHalley, I believe you have the right to question yourself AND the world around you. I don't see any other way for a person to grow into the person they want to be, need to be, were meant to be, and were all along. If you go along blindly following the lead of others, you will never lead your own life. You will never know your full potential.

Nothing I posted limits or prevents you from saying or doing anything.

Freedom of speech, at least as referred to in the Bill of Rights, has no application to a private site.

I too am allowed to feel a certain way. My thought is no matter how sincere an opinion is held, it still remains an opinion. Many are good at being critics. When does building a better way begin?

I never claimed mine was something else. Psychology is not my field and I can only speak from my personal experience.

And building better way? Sometimes one needs to tear down the old way. If you allow me political metaphore... here in Eastern bloc we had to tear down the Wall and Iron curtain first, before starting working on new regimes... sometimes we need to get rid of old dogmas and all.
