Faye I wish for the best. Please keep us posted when you are able.
My goddaughter Maggie was a very early premie by C-Section. They let me in to see her in the incubator. She was incredibly tiny, it was unbelievable. She is now a happy and healthy 9 year old. Modern medicine really has a lot they can do now to take care of premies. (And this was 9 years ago so the technology must be even significantly better now. Hoping they are able to delay this safely and easily for the best outcome. Best wishes, and be sure to take care of yourself as well as your daughter. We are all here to offer our support.

thank you, dex. my youngest granddaughter is two and she was born weighing 24 ounces. she is now a little rascal, healthy and very happy. she was in neo-natal four weeks.
i hope that Connie can get past these contractions and hold off for awhile. the baby wouldn't be "scarily" early, but early nonetheless. xoxox pat |

this might be an odd request...but Connie is so big that nothing fits. we're looking for "nice" overalls. not denim. Colleen and i have gone everywhere and can't find anything but the very casual denim. if anyone has a pair that a very pregnant 5'9" woman could wear and you don't need them, i'd pay for the postage. we've been to all our stores and all of our thrift shops.

Yes it is always best if "nature" can take its course properly. It is good to know we have medical care as a backup, but that medical care should include FIRST trying to keep everything on track as naturally as possible.
With my goddaughter, it had to be an early delivery, the question was how early, he mother was on bedrest in the hospital and every day was a decision as to whether they could wait another day, hoping to wait as long as possible for the C-Section. Everyday was a difficult decision, taking into consideration the health of the mother (the longer they waited the more danger she was in) and the health of the baby (the longer they waited, the healthier the baby would be). I was there helping to support the family and helping with their older daughter. Mother and Father offered very good support for each other and had good doctors which made the whole thing much easier. Both mother and daughter did fine.

Your daughter and baby in my prayers, Pat. Even if she delivers now, I don't think it will be bad. Dave is right. There's so much they can do now. She'll just have to wait to move. Has she contacted her doctor? They could maybe stop the contractions.
Hang tight and keep us posted as you're able.

I'm praying for your daughter and the baby, Pat. Everyone is right about how so much can be done for preemies nowadays. Actually, I was born 3 months premature weighing 2 pounds, and spent 11 weeks in the hospital. And that was 25 years ago. Things are so much more advanced than they were then. I'm praying hard that they will be able to stop her labor, but even if they aren't able to then I am hopeful that things will be okay.

((((((((((Pat)))))))))) Any chance they're just Braxton-Hicks contractions? Keeping you both in my thoughts.
As for the overalls, have you tried Ebay? Seems they have EVERYTHING. Good luck and keep us posted!

I was 6 weeks early almost 44 years ago with not fully developed lungs yet. You'd never guess that now.

I hope everything goes well. What a busy and stressful time for all of you. And I second the ebay motion. I would imagine there would be all kinds of maternity and large size clothes there.
((((Pat and family))) Take care, gg

Pat, walking is supposed to make the B/H contractions stop and help the real contractions continue. Don't know if that is something she would want to do or not. They made me do that in the hospital once.
I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Prayers coming for all. I talked to both my d-i-l's and one has "nice" overalls - navy with white polka dots, but she is only 5'5" tall. She brought them over here, cause I was thinking with the capri styles - they MIGHT work - but they have a fitted cuff at the bottom, so I don't think they would work at all. I am going into town tomorrow, and will check our Trift Stores.

Pat,
I would imagine by now, you all have determined how real the contractions are or not. I hope your daughter is doing ok right now.....it is great to know that technology is so advanced that things like this are much less of a worry. I know 27 years ago they knew I had to have a c-section because I was just too small to deliever naturally. All they had were x-rays to tell that then, but because I was so small, my baby turned breech. Funny thing was that just 1 month before she was due, I was out doing down hill skiing at a local resort. Towards the end of the day, I had the funny sensation of the muscles tighting up......thought it might be labor too....but wasn't. Then I was in class one night (trying to finish my degree while pregnant).....came home with my first craving for anything (which was BBQ potatoe chips). I ate the whole package & later that night & started getting cramps. I thought it was diareha from the greasy chips....kept having to go to the bathroom. I started to wonder about it early in the morning & decided to call my Dr when he got to the office. Told him thought I might possible be in labour. I went in & when he checked....I was 7 1/2 cms dialated. He was pissed & told me I should have been in the hospital hours before for the c-section. They wanted me to go into labour first to tell when the baby was ready. I wasn't worried because I knew the baby couldn't come out.....so made it slowly over to the hospital across the street. It is amazing you things can go on in our bodies & we really don't know what is going on...I do hope that things ended on a good note today. Debbie
