Nowhere in the DSM-IV does it mention “the stupid complex,” but I’m telling you it’s an epidemic these days. I used to suffer in silence. But ever since I’ve come out of the closet, I swear I find a fellow sufferer every day.

My all time ever favorite Homer Simpson quote - one that I find myself saying more often than I would like:

"All right, brain, I don't like you and you don't like me--so let's just do this, and I'll get back to killing you with beer."

It's stupid and yet genius at the same time.

Others have spoken of this malaise in times past. For example:

Sergeant Schultz: "I know nothing–NOTHING!"
I know nothing except the fact of my ignorance. ~Socrates
For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream. ~Vincent Van Gogh
“This I know - that I know nothing.” ~Plato

Being stupid is its own reward.
