I guess I am going to post this here, because I can't decide what forum to put it in... it covers a lot of things.

I finally bought that GoLite at Costco that I had been considering for awhile. I have been using it now, every day for 25 minutes, for the past nearly 2 months.

It has made such a huge difference for me. I have never been able to get up in the morning and feel fully awake until the afternoon. I felt constantly fatigued, sleep deprived, depressed, etc. And that only made my ptsd more difficult to deal with. But ever since I started doing this light therapy, I have been waking up between 7 and 8 a.m. And I am fully awake, alert, and ready to function. The anxiety and darkness that kept me dragging for so long has lifted. It's not gone, but it doesn't control me any more.

It has been a life-changing thing. It has added 3 more hours to my day, and helped me regain (or gain) a sense of perspective on life. The little things that used to paralyze me with anxiety or anger don't bother me any more.

I can't begin to tell you what a miracle this has been for me. It has done, in 2 months, what 10 years of antidepressants could never do.

That's so awesome, Obsids! Congratulations! Will you please tell us the details about the light. I would like to consider buying one for myself.

Hugs,

Jan

At Costco, it was $140. I think you can get it online as well. The website is apollohealth.com.

What is does is reset the circadian rhythms, so it isn't just for SAD. If you go to the website, it tells you all about how the light works and has a screening test so that you can discover if you need to use a light and what time you should use it and how long.

It is called a GoLite P1.

You don't have to get up early to start. Take the online screening at the website, and it will give you a baseline reading on your circadian rhythm. It will also tell you what time you should do the light and how long you should sit in front of it. For me, it is 25 minutes at 9 a.m. every morning.
