I have an adult child (a 24 year old) who has anger issues, substance abuse issues, and domestic abuse issues (she is the abuser). This daughter was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon in the presence of a minor child last October and as a result I became the caregiver for two of her three children (an infant and a six-year-old). As of 4 weeks ago the children were returned to their mother's care. The final court date is in October to determine whether or not my daughter will actually be charged to the full extent of the law or not... she was given conditions to meet within this year and then asked to re-appear before the judge in October while the status of the charges is pending.
I am not sure what type of forum to go to for this one... at this point it is more about trying to deal with the emotions I am dealing with because of the children... at least I think that is what I am looking for. thanks, louise1 |

From what I understand most of the forums are open to family members of people struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues. I know in the bipolar forum we have some family members. Maybe try posting in the substance abuse one and see how that goes?
