My good friend has terminal lung cancer. She is young and has beat cancer before so the lung cancer was a bit of a surprise. She thought she had already beat her cancer, but it traveled to her lung. I understand that cancer can spread but they thought they had removed all of it a couple years ago.

My heart hurts for her. I try to be supportive and loving so she knows she is not alone. A couple weeks ago I was talking with her and she started crying. she said "time, I want more time damn it."

She makes me realize that I'm lucky to be alive and that I have time to live my life. I need to take advantage of my time and not squander it. I'm lucky to be alive.

Right now I could use the support of this community.

It is SO good to see you DPM! I am so sorry that it is under these circumstances. But how wonderful for you both that you have each other during this difficult time! We lost my Aunt last year to cancer. It is so sad to see my other Aunt (her SIL not Sister; long story) just wasting her life grieving this way. My Aunt was not prepared to die, the cancer was unexpected and fast acting, but she surely would not want her loved ones wasting the valuable time they have left wallowing in grief that way.

You are both in my prayers. I wish you both strength, courage and peace.

Nice to see your name again, although I'm sorry it's under these circumstances. I'm very sorry that your friend is going through this, and think it's wonderful that you're there to support her. Just remember to look after yourself too. And you're so right about not squandering out time.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It's very hard to watch someone we care about go through a battle that we know they will not win. I wish you and your friend strength. Realizing how little time we really have does make us thankful, and urges us to make good choices in how we will spend it.

What a gift you give her - your friendship means she isn't alone in this.
Please don't beat yourself up about using the time you have. None of us know how much time we have and it's human nature to be so glad to be alive that we take the time for granted, basking in the gift that it is.
Thanks for this!

So sorry your friend has cancer I despise that crap! I have had quite a few friends that have gotten it. It is good your friend has you as a friend make the best of your time. When something like this comes in to our life it really makes you think about time and how we spend it. The little things don't seem to matter as much. Sending good vibes your way!
Thanks for this!

(((((DPM)))))

I know I lost my Mom to cancer 6 years ago.....when the cancer spread to her lungs also. I also have a friend who was Dx'ed with cancer 1 year ago & as been going through the chemo, the radiation, & again chemo & we keep praying as they kept finding new placed where it was showing up. Know that they can keep treating it & she can keep on fighting it as long as there is hope.

It's hard realizing our mortality when it shows up so close. I always thank God for the faith that I hold. It doesn't make it easier going through the illness, but it helps in so many other ways.

The important thing is to continue to BE THERE. So many people (even friends) think they can't handle going through loosing their friends & end up walking away at the point when being there is so important. Know that is NOT YOU, but I know it does take STRENGTH to be there & keep the support going when the emotions want to win & just run in the other direction.

I am sorry that your friend is fighting her cancer again but I am glad that she has you for a special caring friend.
