my application for SSDI is now started. Or my official date was yesterday anyways. I have my phone appt on February 7th now. I was a bit nervous cause at first we thought my husband made too much for me to receive anything. Then my Case Mgr checked into things more today and she just called me and said that I dont qualify for SSI but I do for SSDI. The process has started. So maybe now .. I can get my husband off my back about not bringing some sort of income in. Especially when I cannot manage to go out and get even a part time job. Even though I look over my dads affairs,~ his three rental houses, plus his own, his medical needs, groceries, bills all that and ours too. What about this isnt work? Why cant my husband see this? I guess I just have to get resolved to the fact that I know it is and that has to be good enough for me. And now I hope... and pray that this goes thru. And he wont have the control he is trying to get over me now . Thanks so much everyone for your support thru this! You are truly amazing and wonderful to me. Love you all!

Hugz~
Bethy

ps. Sorry I am such a pain at times. Its just thst I dont know what else to do with the hurt I feel and go thru at times. A bit of good news.. A bit of good news..

((((((((((((((((tryin)))))))))))))))))) That is good news. I know its hard to bring yourself to just apply for it. It took me 2 years just to get the guts to do it. I am now on it and am able to go to school. Good Luck!!

I'm in the opposite boat, Tryin. I had my phone interview for SSDI yesterday, all 45 minutes' worth, but I will never get it, even though I threw my psych issues in there to bolster my case. Their criteria is permanently disabled or dead within 12 months, and I expect to be neither -- at least I hope not! God forbid something goes wrong and I need a bone marrow transplant. THAT would qualify me, LOL. But right now, if things keep moving upward, it's entirely possible I could be back to work by March or April.

On the other hand, SSI, which they define as being for "those with no income and limited resources," was made for me. :-) I'm out of work, my family and friends are supporting me -- for a limited time, I might add, I *have* to find some income -- and I have $86 in my checking account, $43 in my savings account, and $8 in my pocket. So I'm hopeful I'll get something after all.

I feel like you do too -- at least the ball is rolling now. Good luck!

Candy

Ohh great , searching all over this damn house and i cant find my birth certificate! I NEED THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

We live in this house that hubby's grandma gave him and she lived here too when we got married. But she was jealous of me and my relationship and importance (hahaha at thet time to my huaband ` what a crock now!) to my huaband. And because of her age~ and we all knnow how we forget things right? Well she insisted that she never lost things... I stole them. She had a buther knife to my throat one night because she couldnt find her pearing knife! We moved out and moved in with my dad for a year and a half. Took some things to hubby's parents to keep an eye on cause I didnt trust my family to have it at my dads house either. So I still think that this stuf maybe down at hubby's parents house and its what.. 9 years later now? OMG I am so frustrated! He called them and they said that they think they gave that stuff back to us when we moved back out here. I have not seen of it . So I have no idea where it is now.. What am I gonna do? I need this birth certificate.... ARGH!!!!!!

Beth, where were you born? I'm going through the same process you are and I can't find my birth certficate either, but I was able to order it online from the state of Virginia (for $48!!!!!!!) and have them Fed Ex it. It's coming Monday. You might Google "(whatever your birth state is) vital records" and see what you can come up with.

(((Bethy)))) good luck with this process....anything that reduces your stress level and supports more freedom is a good thing...as for hubby....he just sounds very traditional in his thinking...don't let it get you down...

Bethy poo, go to the place where they issue death certificates. Here it is the county health department. You should be able to get one there. Here they just started charging and they cost $7. My mom made oodles of notorized copies when we were young. We find them all over. Let me know if you need more specific help.
