Under high stress I become very forgetful. I forget my schedule, peoples names and just basically anything.
Does this type of stuff happen to anyone else, and under stress or something else?

Yes. I began noticing it about five yrs ago ( I was 60) but realized it had been happening for a while & had been growing gradually worse.

Stress, depressed, "hypomanic"..... I am usually a great person at work for remembering stuff cuz I just do but my personal things, I forget much during the three times and probbaly effects work though I dont realize it.

(((((Lol Elan))) Yes, I could say the same.

Yes for me stress effects my memory and I can suddenly feel lost and disoriented.
I can relate to the cycles that beauflow is discussing, I also struggle with PTSD and the different stress levels that presents with PTSD and how my brain and nervous system reacts. I find it very troubling and it interrupts my daily productivity capacity. I can even see it in my writing where I put wrong words in or leave words out if I am posting under stress.

I still function and can express a lot of capacity, however if I am triggered severely, that trigger or series of triggers can bring on a sense of feeling scatter brained and I become forgetful.

Yes, and of course at times of high stress I don't sleep well, eat well, or drink enough water and all that has an effect on functioning, including memory.

It is ironic that at the time it is hardest to take good care of oneself, it is the most important.

I think this is something, that, to an extent, is perfectly natural, as we can have a tendency to get a bit hyperfocused on what's stressing us out. Though are you talking about an unusual amount of forgetfulness? I've noticed this in myself as well. When I get highly stressed, I'll just blank on most everything.

Stress, but mainly depression makes me forget the stupidest random things. I am becoming more worried I'm losing my actual memories as well. I forget people whom I should know. Not just not be able to remember their name, but be unable to remember who they are, how I know them, and what our history is. But my brain then seems to get stuck on other things.

I have a greyhound, and the other week there was a cat on our garden. My mother commented that we shouldn't let the dog out. The next day I thought I'd dreamed the entire thing, because in a dream we did let the dog out by accident and it killed the cat, but when I asked my mother she said there really had been a cat, but it didn't die. The next day, I was convinced that I'd dreamed about dreaming it, and my mother confirmed that the original incident had happened, and that I had asked her about it the previous day... and so on... *sighs*

Confusing as hell...

Absolutely! I have a rotten memory from the meds. But under stress I forget everything. Like I was in a car accident, just a minor fender bender, but I don't remember it. I can't tell you where I was or where the other car was in relation to me. I don't know if the other person is male or female. My pdoc says both my meds and my bipolar cause memory loss.

Memory loss under stress

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

My mom had a super memory... Then her dad passed away and i noticed she was forgetful at times. 3 months later my eldest brother was murdered and she forgot things that happened a while ago. A few months after that, my dad passed away from a heart attack... BAM her memory's completely shot to hell. She forgets what you told her 15 minutes before,PLUS longterm memory's diminished. She's never had ANY type of medical/proffessional help relating to all the trauma she experienced that year. And it seems to just be getting worse. So yes, stress can wreak havoc with your memory...

Yes and I realize this as I tried to put the kettle in the fridge.

I'm not sure what caused it, but my memory hasn't been my friend lately, I know that. Sometimes, I even forget what I was about to say in the middle of the sentence (or right before I start it). I've forgotten my age, the grade I'm in, and my name too (somewhat).
Once, my mom told me to call a friend back, so I went upstairs to get my phone, and then I forgot. I have more examples, but... yeh, I forgot.
When it comes to remembering the most random things (and school), I do very well. It's just that, I always remember things that others have NO recollection of, and others remember things that I don't. I'm not even sure of some of the things I remember. Sometimes, it seems so vague... like a dream. I hope the memories I remember that others don't actually happened and wasn't just my mind's doing.
Ah, well, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one.

I already suffer short term memory loss from being run over by a car at 40 mph and having a brain hemmoraghe, but with the bipolar disorder whether manic or depressed, I'm extremely forgetful. I literally have to write everything down. I'm constantly resetting passwords on accounts and can have a conversation with someone and five minutes later not only remember their name but the conversation itself. It is so frustrating. I am so with you .

wow that's a very tough situation. Scientists are always doing research to help with memory loss and it would be great if they could come with up with a real break through to help people who have been affected in accidents.
