Hi,
Every so often, I get really anxious and afraid I will start hearing voices, and then I start hearing them inside my head. Then I obsess over it so they stay and I'm not sure what they are. They tell me to do bad things (but I wouldn't) but when I forget about worrying they go. Is this normal? I already have delusions but I'm not sure if I'm actually hearing voices or if it's my imagination playing tricks with me. Sometimes (externally) I hear my name being called, and I mistake shadows for people or monsters/aliens and noises for people speaking (or ghosts/demons/magic). I get bad paranoia too (being watched, tracked, talked about etc). What is this? I'm really concerned... I'm 14, btw. Thanks, ~WTTJ |

Hello WTTJ, thanks for viewing my profile.
What you describe is .not. normal. take what you know to be false and try to replace it with something else. Seek the good and avoid the bad. it is like a muscle, the more you do good, the more you cleanse your being. The more you think good and resist evil, the better your mind gets at knowing the difference and making the right choice. Best of Luck, SW |

for example think about someone you love dying and pay close attention to your body's reactions. you will suddenly find yourself sinking into a sad mood, maybe even producing watery eyes. this is seen every day by watching movies. the actors paying the parts prep their self for their scene by thinking of something happy or sad. many actors can cry on demand just by thinking about a sad time in their life. watch a sad movie and your bodys automatic reactions is sadness, watch an action packed movie and your body is hyped up and on the edge of your seat, watch something scary and your body automatically responds with fear. the human body reacts automatically to our thoughts. I know some people that can make their self sick just by thinking how nice it would be not to have to go to school and take that math test, or final. it happens quite alot in college classes too where someone is too sick to attend their class but let the 7pm party roll around and their body is back to normal. last night my wife got an emergency call. I was alone in our house at night for the first time since we moved here. I swear I heard every creek, and footsteps gosh knows what else including things that were not there. some people who are lost in the winter snow storms make it through by using their thoughts to keep them warm. it works too. one night I was out with my wife and we had a flat tire. it was so cold out. my wife and I called AAA and we kept ourselves warm by imagining we were at home in front of the fire place. our bodies reacted to our thoughts and kept us warm. I know many people that can use their thoughts to do things like meditating and they will hear the forest birds, rushing water.... it is very common to go through this. part of being human and having 5 senses and a brain to interpret thoughts and a wild imagination. one of my therapists was a firm believer in the connections of thoughts to moods and thoughts to behaviors. there are many different therapies that are modeled after the connections that hook thoughts, moods and behaviors together. for example CBT and DBT. if this continues to be bothersome to you, contact your treatment providers, they can help you learn how to control your thoughts. you probably wont be able to control your bodies automatic reactions but it may get easier once you know how to gain better control over your thoughts. me I just registered for a college meditation class. the class description says be prepared to mentally visit a tropical isle completely (meaning we will be learning how to activate our automatic sense responses so that we can fully enjoy the tropics should be fun and interesting.) |

a neurologist is the best one to exam and address this, but you may have to go through your regular physician, and state him/her you are hearing voices, so tell the doc about the voices, even though that is in all probability a scary thought. |
