My T keeps giving me tests. I googled this one. It tests for hypochondria, schizophrenia, hysteria, etc. I dont want to go back. Whatwver the results show, i'm going to have hurt feelings. She looked at a book i was reading today about Christian martyrs and
asked me if i thought i was a martyr. What? I told her , " uh , no. The martyrs died for God. They are dead. " then she said did i think i was going to be a martyr? I said probably not. I would if the situation came up, but doesnt happen here in US that often. She thinks i' m cuckoo, or she wouldn't ask me these things, right? |

I think she was just showing interest in your book. We choose books that interest us and our books kind of display that interest. She was curious about what you think about the idea of martyrs, it sounds like. But it sounds like it was uncomfortable for you to have her ask questions about the book you had with you?

Don't ever ignore an opportunity to gain knowledge just to spare your feelings. Ignorance is ignorance. Knowledge is power.

I assume you took the MMPI? That's a very standard test, they gave it to all incoming freshmen at my huge university and then, later, I had to take it again for my therapist there. They won't tell you the specifics of what it says, it's a diagnostic tool for them rather than anything about "you", it just helps them know what direction to treat in, kind of like the Sanity Score test on here might give you a clue about what areas you may have problems in. It's nothing to be afraid of, you aren't "cuckoo" and there's nothing that can hurt your feelings.
I like Echoes explanation about the book. The only way T's can get to know us at all is by talking to us and, at first, that means questions because they don't have anything to go on yet. You were interested in the book so its subject matter, seeing if you identified with the martyrs or not, what you thought of them, etc. is a natural topic of conversation. There are several definitions for martyr, not all of them related to long-dead Roman-killed sufferers. So, I think she found what you said to be helpful to her understanding where you are coming from rather than that you are/are not any particular way.

Oh, ok. Thanks for your input all of you. I never had a T give me so many tests before. I don't think i' m that much of an enigma. I'm
depressed and was abused as a child. I dont think it's that complicated. |

I, too, am assuming you mean the MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory).. and yes, Perna is correct in that it's a standard even for employment in some companies.
