Whenever I read a text, I read something else. For example, a minute ago I was reading the word "short" but instead I saw shot. When I chat to my boyfriend on msn, I read a sentence and sometimes I think he said something else. Then I read it again and it makes sense to me.

Hi Happycheeks - there could be many reasons why you may initially misread things, from needing your eyes tested, to stress or problems with concentration. If it is something that is concerning you, maybe get an appointment to get your eyes tested and / or check with your GP.

Let us know how you get on - Soup

I think it happens quite often and to everybody. I was reading a text about Balkans and I read there were sh*tty peace treaties. I was like O-o did they really say that in academic text? Read it again... and it was shifty.

I think it happens when one is tired mostly.

I agree with others that you may need to check your vision, as a place to start. If your vision is fine, then it may be another issue. I find that anxiety for me-can cause oversight or worry in general can make me see things in a skewed way.

This has happened to me in the past when I've been on certain medications. I don't think you are "mad".
