Today was my first day back to work in several months.

I actually returned to the employer I previously worked for since 2001 so I already know the people and the job. That aspect of it was quite comfortable. I received so many hugs and welcome backs from everyone and it made me feel really good to know that I was missed.

The day started off really weird. I was hearing everyone talk but it was like I wasnt really there. Hard to explain but by the end of the day I was printing reports and getting ready for my work day tomorrow.

I am in my old position of Senior Account Rep but this time, instead og overseeing 4/5 people I only oversee 3 which I like. 2 of them I previously worked with but 1 is brand new to the company and she seemed really nice.

All new employees are supposed to receive a 2 hour orientation but mine lasted 5 minutes because I was a previous employee. Basically they gave me a stack of papers and told me to turn them in by the end of the week. Nice welcome Back Exhausted

They never de-activated my employee status on the time clock so that was pretty cool. I still have issues with the way we have to punch in. We have to place our hand on a screen and that clocks us in. I used to get really freaked out about touching it after other people because I was afraid of the germs but today I was less afraid and less grossed out, but, I still keep my Purell with me Exhausted

It all seems pretty much the same with the exception of a few new faces. The Head of the company has decided to retire but has given no date for that yet. They have hired his replacement and we are told it is a women, which I am really pleased with.

I am exhausted now. Not that I did that much today but getting back to work after an extended period of time is really tough. I am eager to get my life back....to a certain extent that is.

Thanks for listening.

Huggles,

Jen

It is quite exhausting going back to work after such a leave. I know just going to partial for me is quite exhausting.

I think that the more you work, the less exhausting it will be, though.

Glad to see you're back at work.

I think I hijacked Aza's thread to WOO HOO you, so here's your very own WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Exhausted I've only been off work since December, and already I can't imagine going back. I loved my job, but since I hadn't been there a year yet I didn't fall under FMLA, so they didn't have to save it for me. Oh well.

Did you work a full day? You must be REALLY exhausted, if so. I know from having been out sick for a long time several years ago that the first day I went back, I worked from 7 to 3:30, went home, which was like a 2-minute drive from work, immediately went to bed and slept through to the next morning! It'll be tough to get back into that "daily" routine, but you can do it! Just be gentle with yourself.

One more for good measure --- WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Exhausted Exhausted

WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Just take it easy on yourself, Sweetie. You'll fall back into the routine soon enough. Sounds like it's a great work environment for you!

The thing in the morning was probably a little bit of overwhelmed, you think?

LOL The minute I read about the hand time clock, I immediately thought "Purell!" Exhausted

Love you and I'm so proud of you!!

I have so many extended absences and remember the first day back only too well.

I had a good long yawn and stretch for you.

Well done!!!

jmo531,

Glad your first day back at work went fairly well!

Sounds like everyone missed you.

Going back to work is pretty stressful anyway, so you did really well.

Thank all of you so much. I wanted to reply earlier while I was at work but I was afraid that someone would sneak up on me.

All of your support and well wishes mean so much to me. You all have been through all of this with me. When I decided to leave this job after an extended medical leave, you guys were there for me then also and I appreciate all of you so much. Exhausted Exhausted Exhausted Exhausted Exhausted Exhausted Exhausted Exhausted Exhausted Exhausted

Day 2 went pretty well. I accomplished a little more today and that felt pretty good. Just trying to get settled back in and taking things slow.....but not too slow. I dont want them to think I am slacking Exhausted

I am making a point this time around to actually take my full lunch. Before I would work through my lunches w/o being compensated for it and I would work tons of overtime. Although, overtime has been almost cut out completly, I made it very clear to my boss before I came back that overtime, at least right now, is not for me.

Anyway, I had a few errands to run after work which I completed but I never did make it to the grocery store but hubby told me to make a list and he would do it tomorrow while I was at work. What a good guy?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the best part of my day. When I got home yesterday and today my babies (Gracie and Paulie) we so excited to see me that they were biting and licking me at the same time and they were whining too. They wouldnt leave my side. I love my babies Exhausted

Again, thanks for all your support.

Huggles and more huggles for all of you.
