I have read the book "the Highly Sensitive Person" by Elaine Aron (http://www.hsperson.com/) and both my husband and I self-identify as HSPs (Highly Sensitive People). Learning about this character-type really helped me understand myself better, and realize I'm not the complete "freak" I always thought I was.
Check out this cool link on PC with an interview with a "professional HSP" who describes the plusses and minuses of living as an HSP:

Thanks for this!

Yep, I read that book back in college (I was a psych major). I'm very HSP, which wasn't a surprise to me or my ex-hub. It is an interesting quiz though. Thanks for sharing the link, I'd forgotten about it !

Thanks for sharing this, I may need to read the book now. I did not relate to ALL of the things in that short article, but some of them I really connected to. I think I may be a HSP! Thanks again!

Thanks for the suggestion. Just ordered it, I think this book will be an amazing read that will also help me realize a lot of why I am the way I am.

You mean I'm highly sensitive not overemotional, oversensitive, overfeeling, and just need to grow a new tougher thicker skin? Yea! Kidding but I really loathe hearing those statements. I'll have to check this book out, thanks for the link as well.

I don't think I can grow new skin, but learning so ways to cope better could help.
