If someone comes to you with good news about their medication, don't burst their bubble.
If they happily tell you they just began an antidepressant and they already feel better, don't tell them it's just a placebo effect. ![]() You may think inside your head that it's a placebo effect, but once you say it, you rain on their parade and ruin whatever so-called placebo effect they were feeling. And if someone wants to celebrate any tiny bit of progress or is feeling better because of anything, don't ruin it with careless comments. We all want to be able to relish in our own victories, no matter how false or insignificant their victories may seem to others. |

Thanks so much for posting this. I love the placebo effect; I think it is powerful and effective, and it has worked for me. I think your advice is great.
