So I just got home for the evening to find a notice on the door that reads, "24-hour notice to enter" on my door. The have to come to an inspection, supposedly about making sure management is installing things properly blah blah blah. MY PLACE IS A MESS!!!! I have tonight to clean it, so.....LESSON here folks, lol, if I kept my place clean in the first place, I wouldn't be scrambling to get it up to standard tonight, and get enough sleep before work. ACH!!!!!

Hey, 24 hours is pretty good! My former landlord only used to give me 12 -- and then he was a jerk about what constituted "clean." One time, right as I was leaving for work, a box of books spilled out from the living room closet onto the floor. I was running late and figured I'd pick them up when I got home.

When I got home, there was a 5-day eviction notice on my door for not keeping the place in a "clean and tenantable condition."

GIMME A BREAK!

My life is a lot easier now that I have a friend who enjoys cleaning (the weirdo!) come over and do the hard stuff for me once a week! I refuse to let her in the bedroom, which is a dump, but everything else looks pretty good! ACH!!!

BTW -- when I moved to my current place, I told the landlords (it's a resident manager couple) about what my old landlord used to do to me. One of them said, "You sign the lease, it's your apartment. Do what you want to it, just clean it when you move out." I love it here! ACH!!!

Anyway, good luck! -- and I sympathize completely. ACH!!!

I go t hrough those stupid inspections too. mine I have yearly ones with HUD/Section 8 because every time they sign on the lease to help me with housing costs they come in and make sure the stove, fridge, all lights and outlets, faucets, water heater, and no leaks or chipped paint or carpet frays before they sign for another year. and then this complex also goes through 6 month fire code and complex inspections where the managers and main office and a fire official goes around to each appartment and the grounds for repairs and making sure everything is up to state and fire codes of fire extinguishers and fire smoke alarms and so on these inspections are always about a week after the time changes for dayingt savings and the other one.. It used to bother me but now I pretty much have the inspections down so that I know what they need and they don't look in closets so anything out that I don't have time to sort through goes into a box in each of my closets. LOL Who says that child learned behavior of tucking things under the bed doesnt work. LOL I have a couple boxes that I store under my bed too so that the moring of the inspection I can just drop things in shove it under and make the bed and no one is the wiser. eventually it all gets cleaned out and taken care (I do straight through cleaning once a month and if I didn't use something that month and it isn't seasonal out it goes. A survival technique I learned when I was living day to day and not knowing if my abusers would find me and I had to take off and leave everything not essential to my safety and health. living a life of the domestic violence underground "railroad " so to speak doesn't leave much room for a person to become materialistic for they have to keep leaving things behind so why bother with anything but the basics and essentials) but it sure helps to have those boxes for those last minute oh dang I forgot to pick up my bedroom LOL.

Hang in there the inspection will be over in no time.

I'm actually totally greatful for this. You guys have no idea how much I've accomplished since I posted this. I've been balking on the cleaning for too long, well no more!! Haha, not doing deep cleaning, but it's getting presentable. I realized it wasn't 24 hour notice at all...I was home on lunch, and paid my rent, with no mention of this until I got home for the day, and they're coming in the morning. The notice says only 20% of the apartments are getting looked at, so "the likelihood of your apartment getting inspected is slim" HA! The old me would have assumed my apartment wouldn't be checked...but not this time! I just moved in in December and I love it here! So, it's worth the work, and now I'll have a nice clean place!

Me and my bf keep a pretty clean place. We don't have years and years of accumulation...that's probably why.

Our landlord is super strict about everything so we have to make sure everything is always clean so she doesn't freak out or anything. Ya never know when she's gonna pop in!

It's a rule in Wisconsin, anyway, that landlords HAVE to give you a minimum of 12 hours notice before they enter your apartment without your permission. If yours is doing differently, Lex, nail her to the wall! She shouldn't be able to just come and go as she pleases in your place!
