So my new care worker took me shopping for groceries today. Per usual, I don't stick with them all along, I wander and come back. Today the store was almost empty of people and the new care worker was young and quite skinny.
So I had no problem finding her again. It's harder when they are all plain looking and there are a lot of people around. Then I usually stand a little close to the person I think it is and I wait and see if they approach me to talk to me. You'd think after all those years I should know I have this problem and memorize clothing or something before I run off... or maybe even tell them my issue... but nope. But makes life interesting for sure. |

When I meet people, I always find a distinct physical feature to remember them by, such as eyebrow shape and voice, rather than clothing. Voice is quite reliable; it has prevented a lot of potential embarrassment.
If a person does not have any kind of unique markers on them, I will not recognize them or I will have great difficulty, even though I have met them previously. Even recognizing family is a problem, especially if they have changed their appearance. I have not been 'officially' diagnosed with prosopagnosia, but my doctor suspects I have it. |

You should buy a loaf of bread, leave crumbs when you wander off
![]() How about what's in the cart? That's how I memorize which cart is mine so if my husband and I both wander off at the same time and I get back to the cart first I know which cart to put my stuff in.

Not officially diagnosed either, but I see a lot with Asperger's and similar who have it, some just a little and some quite a bit. Takes no expert knowing I have it, and an official diagnosis wouldn't really matter to me.
I have no big problems with voices, but I'd rather they call me, then I usually know who it is, but seeing a person and hearing them talk, I can still be unsure who it is. It is a bit of a mystery, but maybe my brain is then to busy processing the visual that it just wont take in the audio as well. My boss cut her hair. Now I have seen her enough to understand that didn't make her a brand new person.... LOL. At least I'm glad I'm have the ability to recognize people, even if the ability might be a tenth of what is normal. Would suck never recognizing anyone, some people can't even recognize themselves in pictures. |

I know exactly what is in my cart. I have a natural memory for those things. I could plant the cart there and wait for the care worker to approach... LOL. I can't tell her to meet me at the cart because then I probably would have to explain my issue and for some reason I don't want to do that.
